slight offtopic did we miss to sign Yoenis Cespedes? or is he your favorite player of the new bunch?

The kid is doing pretty well, but if he signed in Boston you can bet he would be in Pawtucket right now--or maybe AA.

Anways, I think we win tonight. This would be a good time to put together a little winning streak before heading back to Fenway. There is so much negativity surrounding this team, so winning would do alot to alleviate it.

I say Beckett goes 8 tonight allow 2 runs.

Gonzo and Youk homer and the Red Sox win 7-2.

Aceves is so all over the place we don't know at the moment what to expect. His last outing against the Yanks he was panic stricken and aiming the ball for the first time I have ever seen from him.

Last night he went the other way and was overthrowing it a bit. However you could clearly see which is the greater sin. Had he been throwing that crap last night that he threw against the Yanks I doubt the result would have been much better. Many of those pitches against the Yanks were as God awful as anything I have seen tossed up there by a major league pitcher.

I suspect since those two performances where back to back that overthrowing a bit was a response to aiming it the time before. He needs to find his grove and find his balls as well. He talks a good game about being fearless but he was far from fearless in that outing against the Yanks.

i also heard that he mentioned he is not that comfortable in the closer's role but is ready to take on whatever the team wants him to do. if its closer than be it.

All Beckett has to do tonight in control the ball. He doesn’t have to blow it by them, just have control. They aren’t the best hitting team out there. He does that and the offence does ok, I can see us getting the W.

That's a problem. A closer needs to have a certain frame of mind to be able to do what they do. They need to embrace that role and want to do it. Not go out there and be uncomfortable and wishing you were starting.

frankly i dont know what to believe, but we all know our bullpen is super thin and i really dont know who is going to step up among our core of relievers we have.

Loving the lineup. Some are probably wondering why Shoppach is playing over Salty today, especially since Salty had a good game at the plate yesterday. Shoppach has had a lot of success against Blackburn in his career. Hopefully Ross, Papi, and Pedroia can stay hot. I am still waiting for that breakout game for Youkilis. I am not sure if I prefer Byrd hitting 8th in front of Shoppach. I think Byrd gives us more speed at the 9 hole than Shoppach, but Kelly has raked against Blackburn, so hopefully he can do his thing and get on base today. Let's jump on the Twins early and give Beckett some run support. I think Beckett at least goes 7 strong.

I like the lineup A LOT, maximizes for the most part our best players throughout the lineup but I'd like to see Yuk bat fifth for a while untouched so he can focus and redevelop everything were used Youk producing. I dont think the sixth spot is "his" spot. It's not workin for him. But other than that I like it.

I like it, as I think that is what the ultimate Bobby V lineup will look like once Ells and CC come back. Plug the 2 of them at the top and move Aviles and Sweeney, then you have your lineup. Youk will probably be batting 6th all year.

Phillies 7-10..... Angels 6-10..... Miami 7-8....

Washington 12-4

Dodgers 13-4

Point is..... It's April, give it a couple more weeks until we hit the panic button

Remember last year, when the Guardians were 12-4 and then 20-8??

Then they ended up below .500.

So this is Shoppach's 3rd straight start with Becks?

Yes it is. I think Shop is officially Beck's Boy now

I agree, I think they are going to be a duo as well, but it's lined up as though Shoppach would have caught each game anyway.

Beckett has faced Price and Holland in his past 2 outings (both LHP), and Shoppach crushes Blackburn (8-16, 3 HR), so I think he would have started all 3 of these games regardless. So it's a little deceptive for now.

I actually think this is a result more than anything else. They do seem to work well together and I think the LH pitchers streak from opponents resulted in the two of them hooking up.
