Ortiz is just such a great hitter. Not only can he crush the ball and hit tape measure shots, but he can take the ball the other way right down the line. Pretty soon they will have to go away from the shift. They are playing into his hands now. He has mastered taking pitches to left or down 3rd base.

 

Marlon Byrd was always a very streaky player in my recollection. He's not too old, so he probably has something left in the tank. He can be a real spark-plug.

 

We still need some bullpen arms.

Had to work tonight so I missed the game. Glad to see I was right about them winning big, but I guess my Cody Ross prediction was dead wrong. The offense definitely has the gusto to make this team playoff bound if the pitching can just manage mediocre.
