The Yankees are the luckiest team in sports.

It sure does seem like they get the good fortune more times than not.

At some point, they will have a season like the 2012 Sox season where their players under perform and everything that could go wrong will.

As some others on this forum and the media have discussed, the mega trade the Red Sox pulled off last month gave them tremendous payroll flexibility going forward. Even if the Yankees don't resign Cano or Granderson (which won't happen), they will have an average of $70M committed to aging players like Arod, Jeter, Teixiera, and Sabathia.

Who knows? Maybe their run of tremendous good fortune year in and year out could be coming to an end?

I think that lost in all of the playoff races is how important it is for the Rangers to stay ahead of the Yankees. Now, the team with the best record will ALWAYS play the winner of the wild card playoff, no matter what division they are from. So whatever team has the most wins gets to play against a team with their best pitcher already worn down from the sudden death wild card game.

Even though he shouldn't, I agree.

Definitely. Trout is a 10 win player this year, and his team won more games than the Tigers.

Wow, Theo took over a Cubs team that had lost 91 games and improved them to 101 losses with one game to go. My goodness, I don't think rebuilding is supposed to go in reverse when you are already a s***** team. They are an unwatchable team. They have one big talent on the team-- Castro, and he looks to be fairly uncoachable.

Oakland 6 outs away from being tied with Rangers for AL West lead.

Of all the divisions in the AL, the general consensus a month ago was the Rangers would be the top AL seed and win the AL West comfortably.

By far one of the most improbable years with Oakland and Baltimore playing the way they have.

We are in the same way if LL and Cherrys continue managing this team.

I cannot blame Theo thus far. He took over a team in salary cap hell that was terrible. It always gets worse before it gets better. And he did end up making 2 brilliant trades this yr. He received Anthony Rizzo for Andrew Cashner, which should lock up his #3 hole in his lineup for yrs to come. And he dealt Paul Maholm for Arodys Vizcaino. If Viz comes back healthy, he has ace potential. And he got him for a 1 yr rental. Theo will turn them around, he just has to remember that his eyes get big when he starts winning and he gets away from development.

A team that loses 102 games is horrendously bad. They will get this off season to start building. He has plenty of freed up money. If he doesn't get them back to..500 next season, it will be further proof of how inept he is.

A's about to win the AL WEST division title (8-5 after five) hahahaha money ball in effect...

BTW seems like Reddick is treated like a rockstar in Oakland

Loving the end of the baseball season. I thought the Rangers were in good shape after that 5 run inning, apparently not.

Hamilton error.....shocker. The guy is a disaster.

Texas f***ing choked. They had a 13 game lead at one point. They have no pitching. Oswalt is a bum.

Yet they will get a bailout plan the 2011 Red Sox never got with the 2nd wild card.

Assuming Baltimore loses, the wild card game will be played in Texas. And, if the Rangers win that game, they will play the first 2 games of the ALDS at home against the Yankees.

Not exactly at a disadvantage being the WC team in that scenario. But they get a gift wrapped opportunity to end the Yankees season by winning the first 2 games at home. The way Sabathia has pitched for the Yankees lately, I like the Rangers chances if they can survive Friday. They play unbelievably at home and will be motivated to put their minimally chronicled collapse from today to bed.

Well done Miguel Cabrera. It is going to be a tight race for the MVP, that's for sure.
It shouldn't be a tight race at all. The writers would have to be on crack if this is a close vote. The only possible reason for not voting for Miggy would be in protest of his DWI. He did something that hasn't been done in almost half a century in winning the triple crown. The only guys in history to do it are enshrined in Cooperstown.

How about the fact Trout is the first major league player to hit 30 home runs, score 125 runs and steal 45 bases in a season and to hit .320 or above with 30 home runs and 45 stolen bases. Also only Joe DiMaggio (132 in 1936) and Ted Williams (131 in 1939) scored more runs as rookies.
