If you have failed comprehend my point to date in this thread' date=' it says a ton more about you than it does me.[/quote']Fear not, when you make a clear statement of your position with supporting facts, this little old tax lawyer from NYC will grasp your meaning. You have been nasty, argumentative, and insulting since you entered the thread. Your arguments have been convoluted and confusing and English is my first language. I can't imagine how confused iortiz must be. He probably thinks that he has been missing something in the translation. iortiz, you are correct to be confused by his arguments.

So, drop your attitude and learn to discuss things civilly with people who disagree with you.

You entered this thread in an obnoxious manner and you have been consistently obnoxious throughout.

So MLB says the Nats are not a small market team, but iortiz and a700hitter say they are......who to believe?

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE IN ANYMORE!

Everything.
We can rest our case. The case was established days ago, and no one has provided any credible evidence to the contrary. I took almost a two day break to go to Atlantic City to watch the Super Bowl and gamble and nothing has changed since I left on Saturday. They are entitled to their completely unsubstantiated, unsupported opinion, no matter how wrong it may be.:D

Hell, this thread is crazy. As I said, I wanted to enrich my perspective, I already did. Nothing more to say.

BTW Congrats for the SB compa!

And a700hitter declares himself the pillar of clarity... A nonsensical farse of an ending to a nonsensical farse of a thread, capstoned by a self-declared king.

If I were a mod I would close this thread, not because it has violated any ethics or forum rules, not because it has been scathing to any one person. No, I would close it because this thread is an embarassment to the board in all facets.

Thank you. It was great fun. I'm still recovering.:D

Well, glad to see that you are as upbeat as ever.

The argument that the Nats were a big market never got backed up. It was a loser argument from the beginning. Those on the losing side persisted vigorously in the face of overwhelming evidence. The insults were pretty one-sided as usual.;)

No, it should be closed, because as pointed out by ORS in his initial post in the thread, it's in the wrong damn section of the forum!

They were never backed up in a way that you found convincing enough to stop your friendly embrace of iOrtiz. You have been leaping to the defense of him and a few others here so often that I keep expecting to see Clint Eastwood wearing a mask in your avitar. You are the king of talksox and a caped crusader leaping to the defense of others in the interest of arguing. You don't believe the Nats are a small market team. You arbitrarily decide there is no substantive difference between clubs in the middle and bottom of the spectrum, even though I'm reasonably confident a world-class businessman like you knows the importance of granular analysis over simplistic analysis.

Of course, no message-board superhero would let the reasonablity of his non-caped self get in the way of a good rescue.

Do you have a special insignia that pops up on your smartphone when someone needs your help defending themselves from their own misguided views? Do you discretely leave the dinner table with your smartphone when someone needs you to arbitrarily claim that no evidence has been presented?

I can't wait until a700 comes back and the populist super-a700 disappears.

I have said 2 things consistently throughout the thread:

1. That the Nats are not now a big market team.

2. That all teams in the middle are closer to being small market teams than big markets teams. Witness the vicissitudes of the Twins.

I have seen nothing to convince me otherwise. Elk's contributions confirmed my knowledge of the city and the surrounding area. Thus confirming the challenges that they will have in building a fanbase. They had better hope that the O's continue to suck.

I didn't jump to anyone's defense. These guys don't need defending especially when they are right. ORS entered the thread long after I thought the matter was settled, and he brought nothing new or compelling to the discussion.

Superhero? That is appealing to a poster with an over-sized ego.;) Nah, I'm just happy to be a humble King. Have a good night, E1. Let's put the Nats behind us. If Benny Boy got us a pitcher, we wouldn't even be discussing their sorry asses. I'm still holding out hope for a starting pitcher.

The lack of African American interest in baseball is nationwide' date=' not a DC issue. Traffic is going out of the city in the evening. I think these issues, while legitimate, will be overcome by a competitive team. We'll find out soon. If Strasbourg stays healthy and Harper is the real deal, they'll have the star power (with Morse and Zimmerman) to attract the fans.[/quote']

That's why Washington isn't a baseball town. As for traffic no one wants to stay until 10 pm then go hiome by 11/ 11:30 then get up at 5 am and go to work.

You guys are arguing over what type of market the Nationals are in the Red Sox part of the board (as stated before). It might matter to you guys, but it makes no difference to me what type of market the Nationals have. It is creating hostility and it is stupid to fight over something so petty. I love debating and love watching people debate, but leave out personal attacks. There is no need for them.

Your posting has been amazingly consistent for 6 years-- totally devoid of any substance and always intolerant of those who disagree with your point of view. Kudos to you for that. Add some substance for a change and get off the backs of others.

You are exaggerating and being a bit hypocritical. I've never been banned, you can't say the same about yourself.

I'm sorry that I don't know the inner workings of our front office or that I don't know what is best for this team. I won't pretend that I do. One of the last players I couldn't wait to have on the team was Edgar Renteria. Well all know how that turned out. You really wanted Carl Crawford, I truly believe he will be fine, but if not, the signing of him will not turn out well. We never know what is going to happen. I won't pretend that I do.

NO ONE knows how the Red Sox will do this season. But enjoy your predictions and speculation. I don't like to predict and I try to avoid speculation. We don't know yet about Cherington or Valentine. Time will tell. I've never been a fan of BV but am going to give him the benefit of doubt and hope he does well with this team.

The doom and gloom being posted out here about a season that hasn't even come close to starting doesn't make sense to me. I will continue to be optimistic until we are eliminated from contention. I will continue to have issues with negative people. Sorry, shoot me.

Are you a retired tax attorney? I would think you would be so swamped this time of year you wouldn't have time to live out here. :) That was a joke, please do not take offense.

Arguing over petty matters is what people do on baseball forums. All of it is petty that's why it is fun. Some of us deal with very serious matters in our professional lives, this is a useful diversion. I do agree though people should avoid insulting each other when discussing what are essentially trivial matters such as these.:D

No offense taken. I am not on the Corporate compliance side so I am not involved. With Company filings. I advise with regard to the taxation of company products which doesn't involve filings. Nevertheless, I am here way too much. LOL!

You are a tax attorney? That is awesome! I am in college for accounting. I want to get my master's in Accounting and Taxation. I want to become a CPA. I might want to go the route of taxation, although I haven't decided.

From personal experience, the CPA is more important than the Masters. Also be sure to work on it right after college. Otherwise, it becomes too much of a burden.

Maybe we should start an accountant's support group on here?

I'm also an accountant, in a small private practice.

Heed your own advise, hypocrite. Read the thread. I was not nasty when I entered this thread. The nastiness started when you called me OCD and accused me of "hit and run", followed by chummy back patting, obnoxious emoticons, and snarky comments by you and iortiz. You are a real piece of work to behave like you have and then start pointing fingers at me.

To the mods who want this dropped, I refuse to allow this guy to continue to start s*** only to suddenly back-pedal and start pointing fingers. Everytime he takes the BS line with me, I will call him out for it.

Someone is going to have to be the big boy and grow up here. And another thing' date=' why the hell is this thread in the Sox forum? It's about the Nats.[/quote']

Careful, this observation got me labelled as OCD.
