Since I haven't seen a thread about him, I thought I'd start one.

I'm really curious about this guy. I don't know a whole lot about him, so maybe someone can shed some light on him as a player. I have a couple of questions:

1) Even though he is a CF by trade, could he play RF (more specifically, at Fenway)?

2) How is he in terms of plate discipline?

3) Which current MLB player does he compare to?

Any and all info on this guy would be appreciated. Thanks.

The only info I have on him comes from roughshod articles of second hand knowledge from scouts who talked to people about him. He's just starting to show people what he can do in workouts. All things said about him are glowing, but lets see what the eyes on guys will say when they see him

The man is beast, there is going to be a lot of interest shown in acquiring him from many teams. He is a right handed batter that the sox need. I hope everyone enjoys this video on him, as I found it really interesting. I hope the sox get him. thx

Some will tell you that he is asking tons of money and that he has not proved s*** in MLB, or even in the minors. The true is that he is talented and has the tools to succeed in the MLB. Hell, he is arguably the best BB player in Cuba. Yes, you heard well, CUBA, which is one of the counties where baseball is a serious thing and if you ask me a lifestyle.

As I said, they should take his case seriously and at least run the numbers.

60 million for eight years is his floor in terms of asking price. You preach caution for signings, yet advocate taking a huge risk on a player that is a complete and utter unknown. Be consistent.

I do get concerned that the scouting will not translate to MLB success. There have been many 5 tool players with can't miss tags who missed. Does anyone remember Alex Ochoa? He missed big time. I'm still feeling the sting of paying so much for Dice K who had no MLB experience. At a reasonable cost, he should be considered.

Yup, some say that he is asking something around Chapman's contract, some 60 Million, etc... I guess he'll be around 40.

The true is that the kid is a f***ing beast. As I said, at least they should run the numbers and make the diligences and see. How much would you give him?

I could see 5/40 at the very most. He is just completely unproven and there isn't much information on him.

If he is the real deal, he would do better in the long run by singing a 2/20 and then proving he can play with the big boys. After that, if he did very well, a 5/75 or even 6/90 isn't completely unrealistic, which is considerably more over 8 years than he'd get now.

He won't.

The better a player he is, the more willing he might be to go for a shorter term deal. If he's going all in on the longterm and expensive contract then any team has to be hesitant.

The Sox should do what they always do: set a value based on what they project for him and their current level of need, and then stick to that value.

honestly, I don't think any of us know how good he is. There's plenty of hype. I sure like the video. The Sox need a RF. He's RH and seems to be a plus athlete.

If he's "worth" the cost then I would give him a lot of money. Say he's a better player than Beltran and he's a lot younger... then he should get more money and longer than Beltran (or Cuddyer) get.

If he's not as good as those guys, or if there are questions, he should get less.

If they think he's in that former class then I would think a 3-4 year deal at JD Drew money would be the top, TOP end of what anyone should ever pay him. I'd probably offer less.

Given how little I actually know about him, and because of the risk involved, I'd say 4 years/8m would be about as high as I could go; but again, I know nothing about him.

Good pick up DHS. He does really remind me of Sosa...... before he started looking like the incredible hulk.
