Baseball America rates him as having the best control in the Yankees system.

http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/rankings/organization-top-10-prospects/2011/2610907.html

So?

What matters is what he's doing now. He's been stopped by the Yankees from throwing in the DWL, but his last five starts there were mired by control issues regarding his breaking ball. Does Baseball America cover the Winter Leagues?

It may be an issue of him struggling after increasing his velocity. You can do your own research instead of relying on old BB links.

Noesi has had some control issues in the winter league. Could be due to his bump up in velocity. Regardless, I have said before and will say again that the guy needs to start the yr off in AAA as a starter and will likely be the first call up. That's actually a commonly held thought and was uttered directly by the Yankees brass this offseason (Cashman to be exact).

As i said, i'm a fan of the kid. With the increase in velocity, if he fixes his control issues (which we agree may be due to the velocity increase) you should have yourself a really good pitchers for years.

SFF was "Dutchy" for a little while too' date=' wasn't he?[/quote']He's either Dutchy or Dipre. Whichever one he is, it's a question of degree. Dipre was far smarter than Dutchy. There's an easy way to settle the argument. Ask User to post a picture of himself. If he is Dutchy, he'll post the same picture that he did to out himself in one of his earlier identities. If it is Dipre, he'll post a picture of his privates.

I like him. He's always had great control, which makes me pretty certain this is due to an increase in velocity. THe ball is getting there quicker, so the breaking balls dont have as long to break and the fastball is a little higher in the zone. He'll figure it out, but it sometimes takes pitchers a full year to get that under control. Look at Banuelos. The kid added 4mph to his fastball and he responded with 71 walks in 130IP. So it isnt always a quick fix, but the coaches would be reticent to ask a kid to dial it down with newfound velocity

When is the Darvish announcement coming? It is supposed to be announced tonight.

It's supposed to be 11pm. But he wont be going to NY. The Yankees put up a modest bid, and the winning bid is apparently higher than $51.1 million. That isnt a modest bid

Very revealing......

I posted my picture by the way.

So it seems like the Yankees are "big" on Yoenis Cespedes. The kid can apparently do it all. 5 tool player who apparently is ready now and can hit the ball out of any field in any direction. It remains to be seen if he can adjust quickly to big league pitching. We've seen players with all the tools get fooled and falter in this game, so I am a little skeptical. My hope is that they dont up and deal Swisher if they sign this kid. I think a year adjusting to baseball in America might be a good idea and then call him up when you think he's ready

I like Cespedes, but when you factor money in I'd rather take Soler and sign that cuban pitcher as well for half the price Cespedes would cost.

In other news, Oswalt is willing to take a one year deal, would you bite? That back scares me more than Garcia's crappy pitching.

The "modest" bid by the Yanks didn't even reach 20mill...

The Yankees bid less than $20 million for Yu Darvish, according to a baseball official with knowledge of the process.

That is the very definition of a modest bid' date=' so why is it in quotes?[/quote']

I think it was less than modest, Yankees low-balled Darvish.

Yankees, Marlins Divided On Yoenis Cespedes

By Luke Adams [December 23 at 4:40pm CST]

There is divide in both the Yankees' and Marlins' front offices on whether to pursue Yoenis Cespedes, according to Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com. Knobler says the two clubs, along with the Red Sox, may not be as heavily involved in the bidding for the Cuban outfielder as expected.

While there have been conflicting reports on the Yankees' interest in Cespedes, the Marlins are regarded by some teams as the favorite for the 26-year-old, as Knobler wrote earlier this week. According to Knobler, however, Cespedes has told people he plans to make his permanent home in the Dominican Republic rather than Miami, and may prefer to play for a team besides the Fish. Some people within the Yankees' organization, meanwhile, view Cespedes as too raw to justify the price tag, and favor a modest bid that will likely not be enough to land him.

Even with Cespedes moving closer to establishing residency in the Dominican, it doesn't appear he'll officially become a free agent until sometime in January.

Do u see Darvish and Cespedes in your team?

EDIT: I just realized Texas won the bid for Darvish.

A lot of people keep saying the Yankees are hot for him, and a lot of people are saying the Yankees aren't so hot for him. Everyone is saying the Yankees are going hard for Soler. I think thats the better move. Marlins will probably get Cesepedes while the Yankees grab Soler.

The Yankees agreed to terms with Jones to bring him back for $2 million. I love this deal. Jones coming back will be a major piece to the bench puzzle.

Do you really need a #2? That's what they pay Lackey to do and that is what Buchholz is supposed to be.

Jon Lester? Or are we differentiating between 1a and 2? If so, it's undoubtedly better to have a 1a than a 2 in the 2 spot.
