Next season we need to cut ties with J.D. Drew, Wakefield, Miller, Atchinson, Dice K, Bedard, D Mac, Albers, Jenks and Connor Jackson.

On thin ice are Lackey, Youkilis (if he has a hip condition it might be best to cut ties with him if he doesn't recover over the winter), Lowrie, and Aviles

To me Lackey isn't on the thin ice, he should pack his horse face and go, right away!

And What would you do with Crawford?... If someone pushes for him (doubt it) would you trade him? If he has another terrible season, what would you do?

Curt Schilling had a great take on Buchholz. He said, he'll look really good in spring training. What Buch is doing right now is what Schilling did in January. If he comes back, he'll be a shell of himself and would risk messing up his mechanics

Wade Davis is the Rays #4 pitcher and he is working into the 8th innig against the best offense in the league. Our guys never work that deep into games.

More salt to the wound?... How much is making this kid?

:lol:I just got an email that my Fenway Brick ordered before Father's Day is being shipped. If we lose these three games I should find where Theo lives and return the brick through his window.

Yup, it's amazing how much these duds survived the trade deadlines. Send them packing.

Just break a window at Fenway with an attach note.

So if the Sox don't make the playoffs, does it validate the game thread complaining? (still think they squeeze in but lose in ALDS)

Am I supposed to get excited that Clay Buchholz threw aggressively on flat ground? There was some other good news on the injury front: J.D. Drew showed no ill effects after thumb wrestling with the Equipment Manager.

Our guys have the same look as the Mets when they were choking away the 2007 and 2008 seasons. They need to snap out of this fast, and tomorrow we throw Weiland to the wolves. That is not going to be pretty.

Statistically' date=' he has the worst ERA of any Red Sox starter with at least 60 innings in the team's history. That is astounding.[/quote']

What's even more astounding is that he could very well get a playoff start. He's atrocious.

Theo has done the unthinkable. He has managed to make a worse free agent signing than Julio Lugo.

This team is TOAST this year...and next year...and the year after that. We will win NOTHING until our GM and manager are both fired. And that could happen if we manage to blow the WC lead. Thats why I am rooting for the Rays to do just that. Short term loss' date=' long term gain. Sometimes you have to build on the future by sacrificing the present.[/quote']

I just died of laughter.

Can the Sox send Miller and Atchinson down? Also, why would you cut ties with Bedard? Isn't he a quality-start machine? Yeah he gives up walks but he keeps teams from scoring 5+ runs. At the very least, Bedard as a #5 option is good. Lester, Beckett, Buchholz, (Blank), Bedard

In his last 4 starts Lackey's ERA is 7.89. He is the worst starting pitcher in Red Sox history' date=' and we have had some bad pitchers.[/quote']

Damn you, he is a good investment :harhar:

Thats great news. Does that mean you won't be posting here any more?

You honestly are the biggest over reactor on this entire board. And it's not even close. And I overreact big time.

I call 'em as I see 'em. I said much earlier here that we do not have the pitching to win the ALC because no team in at least the last decade has won the ALC having finished lower than fourth in overall ERA. Some here doubted that. Now everyone can see its true. Now I am telling you that in order for this franchise to right the ship, Epstein and Francona must go. Eventually people will see that that is also true. The odds are higher that they will be fired if we blow the WC lead. We should all hope that happens.

So you don't think the Sox can win the ALCS with Beckett, Lester, and potentially Buchholz with a piggyback of Aceves? That's pretty ridiculous.

The problem is that the Red Sox have a dominant top 3, and a terrible 4/5. Bedard is pretty good, but he hasn't thrown nearly enough to affect the team ERA. Lackey, Wakefield, and Miller, however, have had a huge effect on the team ERA, and none of them will be throwing in October.

They will not be starting, no. But all of them will see action. I agree that Beckett/Lester/Bedard are a decent enough starting three. But you cannot win that way. You need competence at nearly every level. After that we have only Bard/Aceves/Papelbon. Six pitchers cannot win the ALC by themselves. Our offense is good, but good pitching will shut them down. I don't expect them to make it out of round 1-if they get there.
