I was at Remy's when the team went there after a game last month to celebrate Bard's birthday. Lackey was throwing them back and he had a start the next day. If you don't believe me' date=' ask the staff if you ever go.[/quote']

I don't believe that any Sox player would spend time in Remy's dump.

Most of the team was there. Lackey started the next day and did surprisingly well.

Once the dust had settled from his altercation with reliever Kevin Gregg in Friday night’s 10-3 victory over the Orioles at Fenway Park, David Ortiz found himself at Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar & Grill with his Red Sox teammates for a surprise birthday party for Daniel Bard.

Even if he does have a drink the day before, he probably doesn't "throw them down" especially when his wife is sick. And I doubt he drinks at a Wade Boggs or Mickey Mantle level.

Without real proof, the story is very suspect.

No, he was definitely throwing them back. He was drinking light beers if that makes you feel any better.

Sorry' date=' I should have clarified that he was drinking heavily the NIGHT before his starts, not hours before his starts.[/quote']

Doesn't matter since he would still playing with a tremendous hang over, and definitely will affect his performance!; can't believe that they are not controlling this and mostly at this level... Wow! (if true, of course)

It's very suspect... no proof.

So you're not clicking "view posts", yet you know I haven't posted a link or a picture?

What are they gonna do, stage in intervention? There's nothing in his contract that says he can't drink prior to games, Lowe did it all the time. I imagine Boomer did it too when he was with us.

No, I'd rather him be a man and drink a real beer not some watered down garbage.

Let's say he had 10 Miller Lites. He wouldn't have a hangover the next day.

Still don't buy it though. Why not take a picture?

I don't think he had 10 (at least not in public) but definitely had more than 5. Either way, he probably wasn't feeling wonderful the next day.

Oh man, he's so hammered there that he has to hold onto that fat kid in order to stand up!

Why not? It would be out of his system by then.

A hangover lasts longer than it takes the alcohol to get out of your system.

Beer? Beer? Is he serious? He thinks that drinking beer is "throwing them back"?:lol::lol: Lackey is a much larger man than me, and I could drink beer for 5 hours after a game and play the next day. I thought he was talking about some serious hard drinking, something like tequila shots. Beer? That big boy Lackey could probably drink cold ones from the time he wakes up until the time he goes to bed and no one would be able to tell without a blood test. Beer?:lol: Whitey Ford would be pissing himself laughing.
