I really like Franklin Morales. What a find by Theo. I can't believe, as bad as the Yankees need a LHP out of the bullpen, they didn't get him. He came for a PTBNL to Theo, and since joining the Red Sox, he's posted a 2.16 ERA.

No doubt... great move to get him. He was a pretty solid guy for the Rockies but control issues made him expendable. As long as he can locate, he can get guys out.

Good s*** tonight. Good s***. Crawford gets 2 knocks and a couple RBI, Pedroia looks like the beast he is, Sox come from behind twice and put up 15 runs with no production from Gonzo and with Ortiz out of the line up.

Great win. Go Rays!

Struck out the side. Morales was good as a rookie until he got hurt. He's coming around again his 2nd year after injury. This kid is better than Miller.

15 runs without anything from Gonzo and no Ortiz. That's what you call offense.

Good thing the other guys can make up for our 2 slumping sluggers.

Pedroia is f***ing amazing. I hope he gets a Golden Glove, HoF one day, and a contract through the end of his life.

Quick list of categories in which Adrian Gonzalez is leading the majors: RBIs, hits, total bases, doubles, and extra base hits.

Quick list of categories in which Adrian Gonzalez is in the top five: AVG, OBP, at bats (fifth if you count two players tied for first and two tied for second. If you don't, then he's seventh), intentional walks, and plate appearances.

He's sixth in SLG, OPS, and runs.

Quick list of categories created this season specifically for Adrian Gonzalez in which he is leading: Motherf***ing awesomeness

So...when do we seriously start admitting that he's on his way to being the MVP?

Jose Bautista is leading in home runs and OPS. But aside from home runs, he's not hitting much else. Adrian Gonzalez has slightly more than half as many HRs and yet has more XBH and nearly 30 more hits overall, not to mention a healthy lead over Bautista in RBIs. I think the race will come down to these two, but considering Bautista ran away with the HR title last year and didn't win, I don't think the race is as one-sided as you seem to think. Remember in 2006 when Morneau won it, when almost everyone thought there was no competition for A-Rod? Hell, I'm a Red Sox fan and I STILL think A-Rod should have run away with it that year. There's no telling, and personally I think Gonzalez still has a hell of a chance based on the categories that he's leading Bautista in.

Plus, I really think more stock should be placed in the fact that A-Gon is playing on a contending team and is unquestionably a HUGE part of its success this year.

Amazing game! As always I didn't post during the game. It's sad to think that when Crawford comes back, McDonald still finds a way into the game. He did have a 3 RBI double though.

Did you see Crawford blazing around the bases from 1st on that bases clearing double by McDonald? They didn't even throw home. I'd say his hammy feels better. Dude was absolutely flying.

I didn't watch the game, but the stat sheet absolutely stunned me. This team absolutely killed the ball... and Drew went 0-3. Then Drew was pinch hit for, and even Mcdonald got a hit. Drew is as good as done. He's hit .202 with a .297 OBP since May 1st, and that's practically as a platoon player. What on earth is JD Drew good for if he can't get on base?

True, but it was because Ortiz is suspended. I hope I'm right but I do believe that after Ortiz's suspension passes, Crawford will be in left field, Ellsbury in center field (who was DH yesterday), and Reddick in right field, with of course Ortiz as the DH.

AdGon has been great' date=' but Jose Bautista is having a Bondsian season. There really is no AL MVP race this year.[/quote']

If the season ended today, Gonzalez would win the MVP award hands down. He's on a first place team and he leads the AL in 3x as many categories as Bautista. According to WAR, he's the third or fourth most valuable player on the Red Sox but that's not what the voters take into account.

One other factor is that A-gon will lose votes from other players on his team. The Red Sox are so stacked with talent, they may have two or three other contenders on their team. Bautista will be the only Blue Jay in consideration.
