I think I saw they are wearing retro jerseys on Saturday. That's gonna be awesome.

Favorable pitching matchup Friday. Much better than the next two nights. Gotta have this one before Aceves and Wake.

I was hoping they'd do that. Can't wait

To commemorate this historic meeting, both teams will wear uniforms that replicate the style worn in 1918, the last time the Red Sox and Cubs faced each other in Boston.

The Red Sox home uniform will be a blank button-up with no lettering and a slight off-white or ivory color. The hat will also have a blank off-white tint, and the socks will be a three-part white/red/white composition.

The Red Sox used this combination as their primary home uniform for most of the 1910s, and did not have any lettering on the front of their uniform for the bulk of that decade and the entire 1920s. The team did not wear the familiar blue cap with a red “B” until the early 1930s.

In the past game threads have been much worse. At least people aren't attacking each other. I think we have to allow people to be disappointed with or angry at game developments. It's not any different than the way people react at the ballpark. The only difference is that the players and umps can't hear us. Posters in a game thread shouldn't be taking offense at negative remarks directed at the players, coaches or managers. An emotional reaction during a game is normal. Taking issue with someone's emotional outburst that is not directed at them borders on immaturity.

I made a similar comment in another gamethread, and I agree completely. Bitching at other posters is significantly worse for Talksox than bitching about underperforming players.

This x1000000. You put it perfectly.

I won't be around for the game tonight, but I'm counting on a win. Let's do this

Heck, I remember a few posters that got banned here and there for gamethread posts. At least one of which got permabanned. This is like extra mild salsa in comparison. It's annoying, but I don't think it's wrong.

The game threads have been far less annoying IMO than watching our starters stay in games until the opposition hangs a 7 on them, or any game pitched by Lackey.

In the end each fan manifest his/her anger/happiness/frustration/etc. in so many different ways that makes enriching each game-thread. Who is right/wrong or dumb/smart or knower of the game/or not, is reduced to subjective criteria. This is a place to spend some fun-time, forget life for a while (for me), share ideas, and why not?, debate with some arguments; but when you take it personal or remark constantly others' errors or make racism comments to another or denigrate/degrade somebody just for the way he thinks/is or try to pretend to be "English/Math/Literature/etc.-Teacher" (It's really amazing what u can find around here, i just lol)... it is something else, i think this is not the place.

When you damn a player/coach/ump, etc. at least for me, i do not make it personal., i do it for his bad performance in the game and is "acceptable" and i would say "normal" and "comprehensible" (part of the game).

And as you said too, just like in the ball park, and specially in game-threads, here no player, manager or ump can't hear you here... so share your emotions, ideas, etc. cause in the end this is all about; of course with prudence and specially no affecting somebody's integrity. (just like Benito Juarez said "El respeto al derecho ajeno es la paz")

Get fun and Peace.

Just my 2 cents.

My problem really isn't the bitching it's the constant overreacting on small things.

I thing you've been doing just fine, man.

BTW how many push ups at this point? hehehe

^ This, as well as bitching about the line up every single day, saying the game is over in the early innings.......

Yeah, the real pessimists can tell that the game is over before it even starts. ;)

All that crap gets mighty annoying, I specifically remember how much it happened in the game a few days ago when we were down 6-0.

We came back in that game, and anyone can come back in any game, no game is over until the end of the 9th.
