The next two games we run Aceves and Wakefield to the hill' date=' so I'm going to savor tonight. It really is a little embarrassing to run those to guys to the hill for nationally televised games.[/quote']

Not really worried. I think our bats will keep coming through.

Anyone else at the game tonight? There were a shockingly large amount of Cubs fans.

Walking around downtown yesterday it was nuts. They were everywhere, taking pictures of everything

We sat way back below the scoreboard in sec 38 and we had Cubs fans behind us, in front of us, and next to us. Unfortunately for them I was extremely obnoxious last night. It was loud as hell in the bleachers during the top of the first when they got back to back hits with two outs.

I figured a lot of people would make the trip out, but not this many. I'd say the bleachers were 60/40 with sox vs. cubs fans.

Along with winning came a lot of bandwagon fans and pink hats. Cub fans are still pure hardcore baseball crazy fanatics. I don't miss losing, but some fans that we have picked up since the winning started are annoying.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them "fanatics". I work with a lot of people from Chicago right now, they all call themselves Cubs fans, and few of them know the roster. MDF and Keeper can probably verify this, but despite the 100+ years, the Cubs are still the more trendy team to be a fan of in Chicago, so their pink hats are probably numerous. My guess is that they appear to travel well for the same reason that the Sox do, there are a lot of transplants around the country.

This makes a lot of sense. In New England I often see a bunch of Cubs fans that are Cubs fans because "it's cool" or simply "for the hell of it". Don't get me wrong, there are loads of real hardcore suffering Cubs fans out there, but I think that the Cubs have a lot of bandwagon fans for the iconic imagery of Chicago and Wrigley Field that don't know anything about the team, which might hint at why they draw so many nation wide fans despite their lack of success.
