The concerning part is that the hitting is every bit as bad as the pitching. The bats were close to breaking through tonight, but it's the Guardians! They should have broken out yesterday.

These are wise words indeed. My one strongest hope is that the team bounces back, gets a chip on their shoulder and that the early adversity they are facing now will pay off down the road. Gonzo and Crawford are looking a bit better, and I have no doubts about the core of the lineup being able to play in the Boston pressure cooker.

 

Last year it seemed that one of the best parts about the (otherwise frustrating) club is that they outperformed their expectations after a rough patch of injuries and call-ups. I'm optimistic that this team will get it's swagger back and be able to not have another stretch of baseball this bad for the rest of the year. We would MUCH rather have this s*** for the first few games than down the stretch or in the Playoffs.

They are too good to not snap out of this. The only thing that concerns me is that they might dig a big hole for themselves before they get on track. It's way too early to panic. If they are 10 games out at the end of May, I'll be very concerned, but June is a long way off. In the meantime, they are just sucking all the fun out of being a Red Sox fan. We haven't had anything to cheer about since the end of last June. We'd all been looking forward to watching an exciting rebuilt team, and so far there has been nothing to cheer about. Please give me some reason to cheer today and over the weekend.
