I think so as fenway will suit him, he knocked in plenty last year despite playing in SD

Had a bet on him to do so at 16/1 (think that's +1600 in US odds) if you can gamble online stan james still have the 16/1

Bautista hits 35 max. Gonzalez will hit somewhere around 40 IMO, but I don't know if he'll lead the league. I'm just guessing, though.

Yeah but reminds me of when he predicted that the Big Unit would have 30 wins with the yanks. I think that he will do great but that may be a bit of a stretch

Exactly my thinking so think at 16/1 a good bet

He ought to hit above his typical numbers. He might be hitting a lot of bombs to our deepest field, but our deepest field is nowhere near as deep as San Diego's.

When was the last time we had a major acquisition that really worked fantastically well? I think we're due.

I'll pick Adam Dunn at the bandbox in Chicago.

I looked at dunn but only 8/1 compared to the 16/1 on offer for ADRIAN gonzalez

Espn fantasy project 40 homers for agon, upwards of 43 or so could win it

I still think its decent 16/1 chance

thing is, this is a major acquisition who isnt healthy yet. And if he hits to a .900+ OPS with 30-35HR a season, you'd be unhappy?

He should hit for higher average with the LF wall so close and his good opposite field stroke.

What hasn't been mentioned is the change in pitching he will face in a different league, and what affect

that will have. You never know. He is in the AL now, and the toughest division. He won't see so many fastballs.

Agon will have plenty of FB to hit. With Ellsbury and or Crawford on and Youk protecting him, it shouldn't be a huge swing in FB seen IMO. Will be an interesting to see how pitcher approach him this season.

Yeah' date=' what a fantastically unreasonable leap of logic that would be.[/quote']

That wasn't my point. My point was that whenever I see "A Gonzalez" I think of "Alex Gonzalez" rather than "Adrian Gonzalez". In addition, I never said that it was unreasonable to refer to Adrian Gonzalez as "A Gonzalez", my point was that I'm used to seeing him referred to as "Gonzo" "A-gon" or "Adrian Gonzalez" and therefore, whenever I see the thread I keep thinking of "Alex Gonzalez" rather than "Adrian Gonzalez"

Between Lincecum, Jimenez, Kershaw, Sanchez, Cain, and Billingsly, I'd say the NL West is no slouch in terms of pitching. Those 6 right there combined for a 3.17 ERA last year. That's pretty stout if you ask me. I don't think there is going to be that much of a transition period for Gonzo, he's seen great pitching before, he'll see it again.

The biggest thing that's going to help him is hitting in front of Youk vs LHP. In the last 3 years, Youk has had an OPS vs LHP of under 1.000 only once. That's pretty insane. Pitchers are not going to want to walk Gonzo and have to face Youk, so Gonzo is going to see some good pitches vs LHP.

Plus - If Gonzo hit 40 HR with a healthy shoulder in 2009, in which he only hit 12 HR at home, and he had Chase Headley (who?!?) hitting behind him, I don't think it's going to be at all far fetched for him to repeat that performance while playing at Fenway with a healthy shoulder hitting in front of Youk and Ortiz. BTW - this bit was a response to Jacko, not you BSN.
