I don't buy that. If they guy wants for example 125 bones the Red Sox would offer 90. If they offered 115 bones they would get the player. Just a example no real numbers thrown out there. The White Sox Tigers had no trouble signing guys fast. But the Red Sox do.

Giants not biting on Scutaro

 

This from Nick Cafardo, who spoke to a source with the Giants: San Francisco is not trying to trade for Marco Scutaro to fill their hole at shortstop.

 

The Red Sox had reportedly made Scutaro available during the GM Meetings. But to date nothing has come of it.

 

Obviously the move would be to trade Scutaro then give Derek Jeter whatever he wants.

If the Sox are shopping Scutaro is it because they are so confident that Lowrie can fill the job on a full time basis, or do they expect Iglesias to make a splash in the majors in 2011? What do you think their game plan is at SS/

I think they are confident Lowrie and or Iglesias will become viable everyday SS option by 2012. I expect Iglesias to get a taste this year of the ML. I believe he's on the team or close coming out of 2012. And after that could very well be the everyday SS, while Lowries takes on Super Utility role.

But the free agent third baseman is waiting to see what other options open up to him and maintained that his preference is to return to the Boston Red Sox.
