The answer of "why" is simple. You lack the consistency (or coherence) in your thought process to understand anything related to baseball' date=' and you show a bias against Theo Epstein that borders on the homoerotic. I've come to the conclusion that you have a poster of the guy in your room (obviously in your mom's basement) and you jerk off to it on a daily basis.[/quote']

Twice a day my friend.

Here's my question. If Boston signs Gonzales' date=' what are the chances they get him into a long term contract? He's gonna be looking for Teixeira dollars, and the Sox could pay it, but what are the chances he does that and doesn't wait and fish the market?[/quote']

There is NWIH the Sox don't sign him long-term after trading for him. The deal sounds like at least 2 top prospects, Theo is clearly not going to pay that price just for a rental. He's not that stupid, even if some people on this forum think he is.

ESPN Boston's Gordon Edes reports that Red Sox GM Theo Epstein is "making headway" in a deal for Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.

The Red Sox have been linked to Gonzalez for seemingly forever, and once they lost Victor Martinez, we assumed they would step up their efforts to land the Padres star. Gonzalez will be a free agent after the 2011 season, and the Padres have conceded that they have no shot to retain him, so a deal was inevitable, and it sounds like one could be consummated soon. Stay tuned.

Theo is going in a lot of directions at the same time. I hope he starts to get some of these things done.

Dustin Pedroia confident he’ll be 100 percent

By Scott Lauber

CAP CANA, Dominican Republic — Dustin Pedroia [stats] is ready to test the surgically repaired bone in his left foot by doing some light jogging. But he was surprised today when a local reporter, citing a rumor that apparently has circulated down here, asked Pedroia if he plans to play a few games for Escogido in the Dominican Winter League.

“Are the hookup?” Pedroia joked. “I’d love to play for them, but I can’t right now. I’ll call you.”

Seriously, though, Pedroia is just hoping to be ready to play when the spring-training schedule begins in late February. He has been working out as much as possible for several weeks near his Arizona home with the Diamondbacks physical therapist, and when he returns next week from a family vacation to nearby Turks and Caicos, he will continue to ramp up that program. A CT scan last week in Boston showed significant healing.

“There’s one area that’s still a little sore,” Pedroia said. “They said the next month I can jog and it won’t prevent anything from hurting that. They said in the next month I should be 100 percent. Dude, this rehab, it’s been (lousy). There’s a lot of things I’m doing. Some days are great. Some days I think too much, and I think there’s something wrong. It’s just the process to get the strength back in my left leg and my foot. I’m confident I have enough time to be 100 percent.”

Pedroia said he will wear a pad inside his shoe at all times for at least the season’s first three months, in addition to a protective guard when he bats. He also may have to gauge his level of activity during spring training, backing off whenever necessary.

“I’ll be fine,” he said. “I’m excited. I haven’t played in a long time. I’m excited to get out there.”

But spring training is still several weeks away, something Pedroia reminds himself whenever he considers the Red Sox [team stats]’ chances in 2011. Yes, they allowed Victor Martinez to walk by deciding not to match the four-year, $50 million contract that he received from the Detroit Tigers. And yes, Adrian Beltre may be soon to follow. But Pedroia is confident the Sox can address their issues by acquiring at least one more hitter (perhaps Carl Crawford or Jayson Werth) and fortify their bullpen. Pedroia had not yet seen Beltre, who also is here for David Ortiz [stats]’ celebrity golf tournament, and said he hasn’t been enlisted to make a recruiting call to either Crawford or Werth. Pedroia is acquainted with Crawford from years of playing together in the AL East, and he knows Werth through mutual friend Andre Ethier of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Asked if he believes the Red Sox will have a roster that can contend for a playoff spot when spring training opens in two months, Pedroia said, “I hope. I think everyone does. It’s Dec. 1 or whatever it is. The offseason has just begun. With free agents and trades, there’s a ton of stuff that could happen before the season. But right now, with the guys that we have on our roster, we can compete right now. I’m sure there’s going to be some changes here and there, but I’m sure everyone’s ready to go play.”

What the hell kind of doctors do we have? He suffered a non-displaced fracture in a bone in his foot and 5 months later he's still having problems and hoping he'll be ready for Spring Training. This is baffling.

Don't get me started on the quacks.

time to change the Avatar Dipre

Not yet. I'm waiting for them to sign, re-sign or trade for a big bat to change it.

Finally, Adrian Gonzalez might soon join the Boston Red Sox. Finally, the Red Sox Nation might claim the Gold Glove slugger as their own. While no deal seems imminent, Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com reports that trade talks between Boston and San Diego are progressing.

Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein and Padres General Manager Jed Hoyer, Epstein's former right-hand man, seem to be building toward a deal that would send Gonzalez to Beantown in exchange for a fistful of Boston's top minor league prospects. As Hoyer enjoys intimate knowledge of the Sox' farm system, he appears uniquely poised to demand only the best prospects for his All-Star first baseman.

Accordingly, such talented young players as pitcher Casey Kelly, first baseman Anthony Rizzo, shortstop Jose Iglesias and outfielders Ryan Kalish and Reymond Fuentes could find themselves on the Friars' farm before Christmas.

A potential Red Sox-Padres swap for Gonzalez has been bandied about for several years, as Epstein's desire to acquire San Diego's pride has been as well documented as his longing for Seattle's Felix Hernandez. Although the Mariners could afford to lock up their young ace to a long-term deal, the Padres have been in no such financial position regarding their young bomber.

The only prospect I'd hold out right now given the chance is Kalish. Anyone else is expendable at this time, including Kelly and Iglesias.

Dude, i know you have a massive (and warranted) hard-on for Kalish, he's not irreplaceable, and certainly not more so than either Kelly or Iglesias, given how little SS and SP talent there is available and how much easier it is to find a productive OF, specially in this market.

Besides, he's not as good as you make him out to be.

Just read Cafardo's blog in the Globe about AdGon. Looks like the Red Sox are pushing Hoyer to make this deal now. Clearly, they have to decide on Beltre. Hoyer has an out now with the SD fans, since they realize AdGon is priced out of SD. Why should any city be priced out? That's capless baseball for you. Seems dreadfully unfair.

I'm surprised Theo is willing to package players in a trade rather than go the FA route. I guess this means Youks plays 3B. They'll take a hit defensively at 3B and 1B. And do they still sign a RHd bat? I guess yes. Probably Werth. Don't think they'll give up Iglesias. The others mentioned in another post are expendable. Kalish could be the key for Hoyer. He's going to be good.

Can AdGon hit LHP? He did last year (.334 BA, .937 OPS), but not in previous years (career .262 BA, .783 OPS).

I forgot to mention that I saw Heymann on MLB.com earlier tonite. When he was asked about Beltre's preference to stay in Boston, he said he thought the Red Sox weren't moving in that direction, but towards AdGon. Guess he was right.

Your getting Lowrie Cameron and Saltalamacchia. And you will like it. Until I see them break this losers mentality of holding prospects by the nads I don't believe it.

If the Sox do indeed make a deal for Gonzalez, I really hope they don't miss anything in his shoulder.

He's going to trade route because he dosent think Beltre will duplicate what he just did for the next 4-5 years ( I dont either ) .

Notice the trend folks?

Every time he's feeling a bit frisky he comes in and makes a couple of completely idiotic posts to get himself ready for the self-lovefest that's about to follow in mom's basement, looking up at the poster of "Boy wonder".

I'm telling you, the stuff you find on the interwebz.....
