Boston close to acquiring Adrian Gonzalez according to Dan Hayes of the North County Press -- will cost the Red Sox 5-6 prospects and will replenish the Padres upper minors --

5-6 prospects? That scares me... I hope they're not too high up there.

Dont scare me.

I am assuming more than just AGON is coming back.

As long as they sign AGON right away to an extension...I really dont care what they give up.

You are not going to get a player of his caliber without giving up a significant package. They arent getting him for nothing, especially since Hoyer knows the system here inside and out. This will be worth it. He will be in the middle of our lineup for the years to come. Those prospects will most likely never amount to the worth of Gonzalez.

That can't be right. Unless like half of those prospects are utter s*** (i.e. not Kelly, Kalish, Iglesias, similar tiered players) this package is really going overboard - no team would even come close to outbidding the Sox. It would be like acquiring Mariano Rivera, for like 30 million a year.

Well this is disappointing lol. Gonzalez is a great player' date=' and a great fit for the Red Sox.[/quote']

I was gonna make a Rolle comment about the Soldiers but i have a brain. J/p

I'd bet its Kelly and Rizzo, then probably something like Pimental, Lavarnway, and Fuentes.

Sox get to keep Kalish and Iglesias. Padres get 3 of our top 10 prospects and two others that are B-level with upside.

Haha yeah, I like Antrel, but that was really insensitive. The avatar is more for the defense as a whole.

Yeah it was. I know about the avatar. I was just saying he was kind of a douche.

4 top ten prospects and a first round draft pick? No chance.

From start, ESPN.com report, I've been told only minor leaguers would be involved in Gonzo deal. No Ellsbury, Lowrie or Bard in return.

Glad about the First and Last. Lowire I could care less. I mean I like him but for Gonzo i would be happy.

Did I miss Lavarnway cracking our top-10 prospects? I'm down in DC and have kinda been out of it for a while.

He's one of those guys that isn't known to the press, but many experts would easily consider him top 10.

MLB Trade Rumors

Dan Hayes (@NCTPadres): Adrian Gonzalez trade would involve only minor leaguers from BOS, including Casey Kelly. Says deal is very close.

I knew he had a big year, but didn't think he was quite top-10, so I included him as someone who the Padres would really want as one of the non-Kelly/Rizzo guys because he's a catcher and he seems to be blooming.

I'm pretty sure this was already clear but that SD beat reporter just tweeted that Kelly would definitely be one of the prospects heading to SD. Link

I think Lowrie is the kind of guy you can trade without losing sleep over. I absolutely would love to see him become a great player and stay healthy. But there are times that complete no-name prospects get traded and turn into stars, and you can't really blame the managers who traded them, because they just don't have it. I would feel like I'd have the same feeling with Lowrie-- if he stays healthy, it'd be a complete surprise to us all.

If Iglesias is an actual Star as Proclaimed then where would you put Lowrie. Youk(assuming we have a 1 B ) where would he go.

But I agree that I would love if he got healthy and played really well. Just please get him a one ear flap helmet.

I've always liked Lowrie, but would trade him in a second if someone wanted him.

EDIT: Not to say nobody would be interested in him. My point was more that I'd have no problem trading him for someone like AGon or Upton.
