I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up yet-- but how do you think Cliff feels about being #2 to CC?

I would assume Cliff Lee is looking to stop losing World Series' and wants to win one. Going to NYY gives him the best chance of securing one

What exactly was his record in the World Series this year? Oh yeah, it was 0-2. He can't blame Texas for his own failures. When you're pitching against Tim Lincecum, 9 runs spread over 11.2 innings is not going to win the game.

His first game in the WS was a total stinker, his first in the playoffs. His second game, one pitch deposited in the seats accounted for all 3 runs. He pitched well

But is my point not valid? Had he gone to the Yankees, and lost two games for them, would they have won the world series without him? The answer is a resounding no. Whichever teams he goes to will be the better team in 2011.

I dont think 3ER would have lost him a game, which is what I am saying. I think he would have been 1-1 in the WS

Regardless' date=' the Yanks are set to sign Russell Martin[/quote']

They are? Where did you hear that?

Posted

The only news I see is that they're aggressively pursuing him.

As for Lee, today has been encouraging. I like the fact that Lee's agent and the Yankees are having dialogue, and that the Rangers are going after Beltre.

rotoworld. Olney said an agreement might be announced today or tomorrow

oh thanks. I was hoping we'd sign him. Will def be excited if we do.

Posted
Not sure what this means if we sign Lee anyway. Martin would definitely be what the doctor ordered defensively, although I think concerns about his durability coming off the hip injury are very valid. I would assume that Montero would be in AAA to start, and come up for any major injury.

Signing Martin makes either Montero, Cervelli or Romine expendables, in case they miss on Lee and have to go out and get Greinke or something.

Phillies Agree To Sign Cliff Lee

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [December 13 at 10:54pm CST]

The wait is over. Cliff Lee has agreed to sign with the Phillies, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan.

If Pettitte retires, the Yankees have 3 starters one of which is Burnett. They are screwed.

As for the Phillies, I don't see who will beat a rotation of Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, and Hammels.

Me nether, expect the Phillies to be World Series Champions in 2011.

Me nether' date=' expect the Phillies to be World Series Champions in 2011.[/quote']The Red Sox and Phillies should be the beasts of their respective leagues. Yankee fans could lose interest early in 2011 with only 3 starters and an aging lineup. Cashman will need to get creative if the Yankees are to be competitive. If he doesn't, Jacko will be IV'ing propofol to escape from the pain of the season.

Pettitte has a lot more leverage now in negotiations. Unless the Yankees do something miraculous with their rotation, this is a brutal blow.

Haha I appreciate that. The rotation is in big trouble moving forward.

Pretty much only respectful Yankee fan i know. I can be a ******* sox fan sometime though.

Y228, being the only unbiased Yankee fan i know, let me ask you the following question:

As presently constructed, which team is superior, Sox or Yankees?

Red Sox. Not even debatable.
