Tito could have gone to Oki, Declarmen, or RR there but no, they already pitched once this year, who cares if there's a day off tomorrow, they'll blow their arms out!..............

This game IMO is on Bard. He had no business throwing that CH anywhere close to the plate.

Two bad plays from our outfield accounted for that run.

I don't feel bad for this team. However' date=' I feel bad for Lackey. He deserved this win. If we only had offense...[/quote']

You're a Yankees fan so what do you care

This game is on the offense for sucking balls against Chan Ho Park for 3 solid innings.

that also but if Bard does his job the game is 1-0.

Pettitte was solid, nice to see that in such a hostile environment. Swisher somehow gets into the thick of things. Granderson has a really nice stroke, but he looks lost vs any lefty. Mariano lost a couple ticks off the cutter, but he gained some serious movement. Now it looks like a slider at 91mph.

Even though the offense was halted for most of the night, I am really liking this lineup. We have scored 16 runs in 3 games against the sox 3 aces without our 1-4 guys doing much of anything at all.

A pretty reasonable assessment. I have a similar assessment of the Sox, actually. 3 close games. Clearly they weren't outmatched by the Yankees. I think the teams are pretty even overall and will probably have a lot of close games this year.

My assessment:

-Ellsbury looks awful at the plate

-The Sox are vulnerable in the bullpen. I'm not sure how this is possible given how good they were last year, but they didn't put the same effort into bolstering it this offseason so it seems logical. Hopefully someone will prove themselves soon.

-Their SP is awesome. It is hard to be overwhelmed by ANY pitching against the Yankees, but over the course of the season I think it will be obvious.

-Their defense is as good as advertized. Beltre and Cameron are already paying dividends and Scutaro--despite his error the other night--is a good combination with Pedroia up the middle and will be a much more potent 9 hitter than they've had recently.

-All 3 of the new acquisitions are on short contracts and offer Theo a lot of flexibility to make a move for an OF, 3B/1B/DH or SS with more pop.

-Victor Martinez is a more valuable player than Jason Bay and should be resigned.

Yes, they lost 2 of 3 to the Yankees, but there are 159 games left and this team should be fun to watch.

Francona needs to be fired, why he brings in Bard to pitch against Swisher who is 2/3 with 2 HR's off Bard in the past is ridiculous. And David Ortiz is a f***ing joke, so is the fact that the Sox can't score off of Chan Ho Park in 3 innings of work.

Don't expect 16 walks every 3 games.

This was evident to me during my week in Ft. Myers. Unless MDC rediscovers his fastball or Ramirez rediscovers his early season magic from last season, there is little talent out there that can step up after Bard and Papelbon.

I disagree. Scutaro is average in the field, not as good as Lowrie or Alex Gonzalez. We still stink at catcher and holding on runners.

Victor Martinez is a more valuable player than Jason Bay and should be resigned.
I disagree. Bay was more valuable because he is a much more significant power threat, plus he could run the bases. VMart is like an old warhorse on the bases.

Don't expect to score as much as you did either. CC ran out of gas, or you would have been swept.

Wow. Excuses.

Well, you can't say they would have swept, because there are obviously a lot of things that could have gone differently for the Red Sox the last two nights. However, his main point is accurate. One of the main reasons the Red Sox did win that game is that CC clearly tired, which probably won't be a recurring theme during the season.

Does Jacksonian think you would often expect to score 16 runs in 3 games against the 3 Red Sox aces?

Lester? No.

Beckett? Yes. Contract extension boy is not a 17 mill pitcher against the Yanks.

Lackey? Showed tonight why he is a great addition to this pitching staff.

:dunno:

Puzzling night tho...

I don't expect Chan Ho shutting the Red Sox down for 3 innings to be a recurring theme either or the Red Sox leaving many men on base so often in a series.
