There was an accident on one of the local highways that shut traffic down for hours. They could only make the cemetery from what I am told.

Espn reported that that was simply a rumor, and there was no major traffic problems.

3 camp counselors killed, 2 hurt in Meadowbrook crash

(07/15/10) ROOSEVELT - Police say three camp counselors were killed and two were injured in a one-car crash on the Meadowbrook Parkway this morning.

Click 'NEXT' under the video player to see Chopper 12 footage of the scene.

Michael Mulhall, 22, and sisters Jamie Malone, 22, and Paige Malone, 19, all of Floral Park, died at the scene. Kelly Murphy and Justine Mulhall, both 20 years old, were injured and taken to Nassau University Medical Center. EMS crews had to remove the roof of the car in order to extract the victims inside.

The counselors were en route to work at Camp Anchor, a town-run camp in Lido Beach for about 600 adults and children with disabilities.

Jim Malone, the father of girls says the family was celebrating Jaime's graduation last week.

Tonight, family and friends assembled on the Lord of Victory stairs to remember the three camp counselors.

"We are all devastated by this tragedy," Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray said.

Police believe the 2010 Honda veered off the road and crashed into a tree between the northbound and southbound lanes at around 8:45 a.m. Traffic in the area was snarled for hours.

Grief counselors are on hand at Camp Anchor to help counselors and campers deal with their loss.

State police are asking people who witnessed the accident to call them at 631-756-3300.

i'm personally more of a yankees bullpen fan myself so i rather enjoyed it. should i bring up the loss column and say something about how dominant the red sox will be in the second half, followed by the phrase "book it" now? or is that just reserved for red sox losses?

well' date=' this one is over. We had won 9 of 10. WHat can you do. Also, Burnett had some cuts on his fingers which is why he was taken out.[/quote']

Doctor, those were more than cuts on his fingers. By the way.... what a nutjob that Burnett is.

After the Rays made it 3-0 after two innings, Burnett marched into New York's clubhouse and slammed open a set of double doors leading to the showers at the far end of the room, slicing both hands on the plastic lineup-card holders pasted to the door.

Today at work during the first few innings of the Yankees game, one of my coworkers that I talk baseball with all the time asked me 'how embarrassed are you as a Red Sox fan to let Bengie Molina get a cycle against your team?'

after the game ended I asked him 'how embarassed are you to let Reid Brignac get two home runs in one game against your team?'

He laughed. Hes one of the few decent Yanks fans Ive worked with.

I'm pretty confident that pitch to A-Rod right there is going to be the biggest pitch of the game. He should have tied it, and now Price is almost certainly going to settle down. I don't like to say that games are decided in the first inning, but this might be the exception.

EDIT: Or maybe not. Nice job by Cano.

The dreaded' date=' yet inevitable Pettitte regression has begun. I wasn't looking forward to this.[/quote']

Isn't Andy Pettitte usually really good after the All Star Break? I mean career wise.

Sure, but I don't see that as relevant. He isn't known as a great first half pitcher, yet was he excellent the first half of this year. What's more relevant, in my opinion, is his 3.82 FIP, 4.01 xFIP, and .265 BABIP.

yup. he has a career babip of .314 and a babip of .265 this year

Hopefully it isn't too bad. We don't need Pettitte injured when Burnett is pitching terribly

Burnett was throwing better in his 2 starts before he f***ed up his hands. Regardless, he's a wild card, unsure of what he'll give us. Pettitte was the stalwart this yr, hopefully he isnt out for too long.
