I totally missed something. lol

:lol::lol::lol:

I guess you did.

P.S.

Please don't say Jew again unless it is something that is clearly benign or positive.

Yeah and who's better? Bobby Crosby?

Question, do you think Marco Scutaro is worth our first-round pick?

Question, do you believe Marco Scutaro to really be a much better option than Tejada or Cabrera?

Question, do you actually like Marco Scutaro?

No, but if we sign someone else he's worth our 2nd round pick.

He's not worth our 9,000th round pick.

1. We already get the 20th pick from Wagner, it probably will cost us the second or third pick assuming we sign some of the other type A's (probable): Soriano, Gonzalez, Holliday.

2. Tejada can't hit outside Houston, he can't play shortstop for his life anymore, and who knows? He might actually 40. Cabrera... come on, his defense is rapidly declining and his OPS is, well, almost non existent.

3. No. But seeing as we have no better option and it's only a two year deal, and he can play 4 other positions, it's not horrible.

You do realize we gained a first round pick when the Braves signed Wagner, right? That was a pick that no one banked on even though he pitched well for the Sox.

I think it's hilarious you're pining for Tejada and Cabrera, and saying Scutaro sucks. They really aren't all that different, and Scutaro performed in the AL East.

If the 3rd year is a team option and not a player option, I'm on board with the deal. 2/10 for a league average SS is worth it.

Lol Marco Scutaro.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Oye.

Let's see. Nomar gone. O Cab, Reese, and Gonzo serve the purpose (at the very least defensively). Yet Boy wonder signs Rent-A Reck, Lugo, and now Scutaro for AAV of $9. mil.?

If it were not such an an example of tragic failure, it would be (as my Dominican attorney might say) "Hilarious".

Just pissah.

Where the hell are you seeing reports for $9m AAV?

I'm pining for Tejada and Cabrera on one-year deals.

And i'm going to stick to my "this was just a career year" all the way until the contract expires.

I'm going to be the first one busting your chops come August when Scutaro is f***ing sucking and you're jumping off the bandwagon.

By all means, do so. I also thought the Varitek deal was OK last offseason.

I think you really underestimate how bad Tejada's defense is and how bad Cabrera's offense has become. You're embarrassing yourself pining for these players and ridiculing Scutaro, especially when Scutaro had the best season of all three last season.

Again, i was pining for them on one-year deals, considering neither of them would be worth a draft pick.

On a related note, how am i embarrassing myself?

Tejada's 2009 season was, defensively, an aberration, if you check his 2008 stats you'll see he was actually really good, you just can't lose so much defensively from one season to the other.

"They Came To Boston".;)

Someone up-thread posted a link that Scutaro signed for 2/18.

Go Bosstones!!!!!

I like the deal. Scutaro isn't going to mash the ball anytime soon, but he does get on base and can leadoff games consistently if Jacoby slumps like he has before.

Getting the Braves 1st pick was big for this deal to go through. There's no way Theo signs Scutaro if he didn't have that pick in his back pocket.

That said, I doubt he's done yet and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox sign a higher rated Type A player (Holliday please!) to keep Toronto from getting their pick.

I've personally been eyeing Lackey, especially since I think we need to sign another type A just so we don't lose a first rounder on Marco Scutaro. I also think that Lackey could help us more than Soriano/Gonzalez and we'd still gain on the draft (29th pick becomes 20th, 2nd round pick becomes type-a supplemental).

There are so many things however, to hate about the Scutaro deal but I'm going to wait until the numbers are finalised before I really start hating it. But be warned, it's coming.

called it

Looks like I wont be going to very many games this year. Dont want to watch a team with that salary and with those ticket prices in a year where they are doing little to improve themselves.

How much will we be eating from his contract next year, seems like its the cool thing to do around here, pay shortstops to go away.

I'm not at all excited about this move, but Scutaro is roughly the player I hoped Lowrie could be in 2010 and 2011. If it's 2 years and $10-$12m total it is a pretty insignificant move in terms of longterm flexability.

Also, this leads me to believe that they will be signing another FA, hopefully pushing hard for Holliday. I don't hate Scutaro as the #9 hitter on this club. I'm not excited about it, but I don't think it will be the albatross of a contract like Lugo and Renteria were.
