  1. well the deal is off now that he needs surgery incase none of you have heard yet. article went up on the site at 11 30pm eastern. im glad hes staying. gives us a better hitter than beltre would be and a still great third baseman. but the talks are of trading for Gonzales down the road since hes stated since trade talks he DOES want to play in boston. should be an interesting second half of the upcoming season.
  2. pretty sure the yankees stated they werent interested in holliday or bay. jeters gonna stay right there. why do people talk about moving his position anyway though, he did just win a gold glove at short : /
  3. i didnt read every reply here so i dont know if its been said but the fact that hes young and growing means he will only get better at time with his OBP and average. his speed also makes him very valuable in our outfield and im hoping no ones forgotted it on the basepaths. we have one solid guy for getting on base and moving into scoring position and with the other team 100% knowing hes going to do it, he generally still gets away with it. Id rather that in a heartbeat. As for Westy, hes not expected to play in the majors till 2013, hes really not ready and we wouldnt see a solid speedy/hitting replacement for ellsbury for a while.
  4. so your saying your for the trade then? and i think theo wants gonzales bad enough that he will find a way. as for the john lackey signing, im not trying to get too excited but i agree 100% with what francona said on WEIB or w/e the radio station is. If the pitchers do their job right, the batters dont have much work to do. which is why im excited about a power pitcher like lackey. i just think it takes off some of the pressure of us needing slugger after slugger after slugger
  5. i wouldnt want to give up Kelly at all. i think we'd regret that big time if by any chance we dont get a ring out of it. but with lackey, and gonzales, i dont think we even will need a slugger in left anymore to be guaranteed the division, but imagine getting holliday too by some miracle. We'd have a ring in 2010
  6. was watching the Scott Van Pike show or w/e it is on ESPN and they had a little commercial thing in between with some old guy talking about the lackey deal and a proposed trade for Adrian Gonzales that the padres want Clay Bucholz and a Minor League prospect. what do you guys think about this? i dont see kelly being given up, or iglesias, but as much as i loved bucholz having a breakout year, id be 100% happy with this trade.
  7. i figured they would at least resign Damon, maybe not for left field but if they dont plan on re signing Matsui, they could DH Damon. But that would leave them a whole in left field and id still like either Bay or Holliday to be with us and not in pin stripes.
  8. called it
  9. Hey all im new here but love the sox more than my mom and pops, haha. not really, but anyway i read this article today on the sox website Jose Iglesias (tried to link it but since im new here i cant post URLs yet) and wanted to hear some thoughts on the matter. I think itd be pretty interesting seeing Iglesias on the field, sure he has a lot of growing to do, but my opinion would be sign Marco Scutaro to a one year deal, and give Iglesias about 40-60 games during the season. Help him learn a bit from a seasoned SS like Scutaro. Could be pretty exciting!
