Boras is becoming less and less useful. He really only has a one-track mind in which he exploits a ballooning MLB market by waiting teams out until they cave on ridiculous contract demands. In the modern economic market' date=' his strategy is actually hurting his free agents. Teams are signing players to reasonable contracts, not bloated ones anymore.[/quote']

Its also hurting Damon. Earlier in the offseason, the Yankees offered him 2 years/$14 million. He and Boras turned that down, so they signed Nick Johnson to be their full time DH. Detriot is apparently offering him 2 years/$14 million, which obviously is the best deal he can get

It's not really relevant to anything, but I just wanted to share this pic of Matsui G-ing at Angels camp

Maybe SoCal will bring out the flashier side of the humble, dignified Matsui.

Boras f***ed Damon here. The Yankees offered 2yrs 14 mil at the outset of FA. Now, Damon gets $8 mil on a one yr deal in a non-lefty friendly stadium. When Damon's OPS gets dragged down by his lower SLG and he's another yr older, lets see if he can get $6 mil on the open market. My guess is that Johnny gets a total of $11 million over the next 2 seasons languishing in mediocrity while he could have made $3 million more playing for a title contender

I agree, Boras really messed this one up. I'm glad he's not in pinstripes anymore now though so I can go back to cheering for one of the heroes of 2004.

Hence, "Way to go Scott".

Get while the gettin' is good. Damon should have signed with New York. He just gave away several million dollars.

Maybe Borras's plugs and/or Rogain are f***ing up his thought processes.

Heck, Damon wasn't the only player who Boras f***** over. Felipe Lopez fired him earlier, although I believe he was hired by Kendry Morales. The White Sox will rarely even draft a player that's represented by Boras.

Yeah but Damon still got $8mil, which i more than I think anyone thought he was going to get. How his value is affected for next year is still to be seen, but I think on the 1 year he got good money.

The ageless wonder, Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez is looking to make yet another return to the Major Leagues.

http://twitter.com/TBrownYahoo/status/9488450285

He pitched in AAA Oklahoma City for the Rangers for about a month and a half last season, pitching 11 innings in relief with a 2.45 ERA and a 0.727 whip. He also pitched for the Bravos de Margarita in the Venezuelan winter league this year, pitching in 7 games (6 starts, 33 IP) with a 3.27 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP.

Awesome, I love this guy I hope someone gives him a shot. I' love to see him pitching again.

Reds signed outfielder Jonny Gomes to a one-year contract.

Gomes coaxed a major league deal out of the Reds, but contract terms were not made immediately available. The Reds non-tendered Gomes in December after a campaign in which he hit .267/.338/.541 with 20 home runs and 51 RBI in 281 at-bats. Gomes should get the majority of at-bats in left field, especially against left-handed pitching. He'll battle Chris Dickerson, Laynce Nix and Wladimir Balentein for playing time.

Rangers void Khalil Greene's contract.

from tsn.ca - http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=311486

The Texas Rangers have voided the contract of infielder Khalil Greene, less than a week after the team announced the veteran would not report to spring training.

Greene had inked a one-year deal with the Rangers earlier this offseason and had been expected to fill the utility role in Texas that opened up when Omar Vizquel signed with the Chicago White Sox.

The 30-year-old Greene spent 2009 with the St. Louis Cardinals, batting .200 with six home runs and 24 runs batted in. He was acquired from San Diego in December 2008 and was expected to be the Cardinals' everyday shortstop, but a social anxiety disorder limited him to just 77 games.

Greene was selected in the first round of the 2002 draft by the Padres and finished second to Jason Bay in the 2004 National League Rookie of the Year voting, having batted .273 with 15 home runs and 65 RBI in 139 games.

For his seven-year career, Greene has batted .245 with 90 home runs and 352 RBI in 736 games. He was selected as the Padres' MVP in 2007 when he clubbed 28 homers, drove in 97 runs and batted .25.

The Cardinals officially signed free agent infielder Felipe Lopez to a one-year contract today. The deal is worth $1MM in base salary, plus easily attainable performance bonuses that could be worth up to $1.2MM.

That's and absolute steal IMO. I wish the Sox had gotten in on that. They could have made Hall stricly a 5th OF, and had Lopez backing up the IF.

Rangers could be in need of Mike Lowell...... again.

I doubt it. They will need to lose a full time bat before they become interested in Lowell again, IMO.

So I just turned on ESPN to see Kevin Millwood in an O's uniform? When did this happen? I feel like an idiot, but I definitely don't remember hearing a thing about Millwood to Baltimore.
