We got Miguel Celestino from the Mariners to complete the Hall/Kotchman trade.

Add another arm to the mix.

The Red Sox acquired right-handed pitcher Miguel Celestino from the Mariners, completing the Jan. 7 trade that sent first baseman Casey Kotchman to the Mariners for infielder Bill Hall and cash.

Celestino, 20, went 5-3 with a 4.73 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) for rookie-level Peoria of the Arizona League in 2009, allowing 35 earned runs in 66 2/3 innings. He tossed at least five innings in 10 of his 13 appearances and had a 13-inning scoreless streak from Aug. 11-16.

Originally signed by Seattle as an international free agent on Dec. 16, 2006, Celestino pitched in the Dominican Summer League from 2007-08.

Not 100% release. He loves Oakland. He is likely to take the minor League assignment then be back later in the season when Chavez gets hurt.

He sounded pissed.

"I think it's messed up," Cust told the Chronicle. "They're going to go on 50 at-bats after three years of what I've done here? It's ridiculous. A lot of other guys have had bad springs. This is a joke.

"The fact is, this team has no power and they've just released a guy who (averaged 28 homers) the last three years. That's amazing."

I think first chance he gets, he's signing with another team.

maybe he will leave but when i talked to his dad last year at Jack Cust Baseball Academy he said that he loved oakland and never wanted to leave. His brother Mike Cust also said pretty much the same thing.

What else is he supposed to say though. "I hate Oakland and when I get the chance, Im getting out of here ASAP". :dunno:

Almost any player will say they love where they are playing at the moment.

Maybe we can sign him. You know, after our offense inevitably fails we can use Jack Cust for immediate power. Haha j/k.
