Unless he starts to get hit, I think CC either finishes 8 innings, or comes out after he faces Abreu (who is seven batters away). At that point, if they still have the lead, I go straight to Rivera.

Just knowing that a bunch of Yankee fans are grinning while watching this game is enough to make my blood curdle. If the Angels are going to knock us out of the playoffs they should at least finish the job and take the damn Yankees out as well.

Ca-NOWAY ;p Great play. Figured I'd say something just so I can get rid of these gigantic red letters at the top of my screen telling me to post.

Hell of a play from Robby there. Cmon CC' date=' close out this inning and grab a beer.[/quote']

Do you really think they should pull him. I know they want him to throw on short rest, but, in my opinion, you cannot worry about that right now. I want CC in there to face the first three hitters of the eighth inning, because I want them to turn around Figgins and make Abreu face a lefty. Then, if CC doesn't go 1-2-3, I go to Rivera.

Start Coke in the 8th then. CC has to be done IMO. Ice cold' date=' 98 pitches, and we plan on bringing him back on short rest. No brainer IMO[/quote']

Well, he's coming back out.

And wow, Nick Swisher is just purely a mistake hitter. Five straight fastballs there made him completely vulnerable to the breaking ball. It didn't even matter that it wasn't remotely close to the strike zone.

You honestly would have wanted Coke facing two right handed hitters?

I think Girardi managed the game well, except for the fact that it should have been Rivera warming up in the 8th inning instead of Hughes. Hopefully all those people saying Girardi over-managed in the first round haven't gotten in his head. He has done an excellent job so far.

Damn...it was f***ing cold today.

Really nice performance by CC today. A well executed game from the Yankees stand point, but not overly exciting. It was real good to see some of my friends who flew up for second round.

All the right moves tonight. Leaving CC in for 8 innings despite the fact he'll be pitching on three days rest was a good decision to me. Burnett is notorious for a high pitch count.. so we still have Chamberlain & Hughes 100% rested. Expect to see them in the 7th and 8th no questions asked.

He managed for game 1, which I have no problem with. With a 3 run lead, though, we probably could have gotten a little less length out of CC. Regardless, the big man can handle it and his next start wont be in freezing temps. CC gives us something we havent had in a LOOONG time. We have the shutdown ace who is in rare form right now. The Angels need to be perfect from here on out to avoid a need to beat CC. If AJ shows his stuff tonight and sticks to locating the fastball, we'll be going to Anaheim with a 2-0 lead.

I saw an interesting stat today. Hideki Matsui's double last night was his 10th in an LCS tying him with Bernie for most all time. That's pretty remarkable considering it was just his 15th LCS game.

Anyway...great win last night, let's hope they keep it going tonight!

Anyone know who's catching, I haven't heard much about the Burnett-catcher storyline leading up to this start.

I would be absolutely shocked if it was not Molina.

I didn't say this last night, but in a postseason clouded by bad umpiring, I thought Tim McClelland did a fantastic job last night

Anyway, I think tonight will probably be very high scoring. Saunders is a feel pitcher, and he pitches to contact. That should be a problem in the cold. If the Yankees' offense is ever going to get going (unless they are effected by the cold) tonight should be the night. I also don't think Burnett will do very well. There is a good chance he'll have trouble with his curveball tonight, and if Burnett doesn't have both pitches working, it usually leads to a poor outing. I think this game might be the first one that the Yankees' will have to rely on Alfredo Aceves.

I also think they play tonight. It's still supposed to rain, but not as hard, and it keeps getting pushed back. I'm not as confident as I was last night, but I think they get it in.

When I saw Vlad coming up first thing I said was "It's a gaurantee he K's on something in the dirt". He's a very good hitter, but he has to have the worst plate discipline the freaking majors. It just kills me seeing him chase garbage that's not even close to the plate.
