What are you talking about Papi is a little speed demon.:lol:

But now on a serious point the fastest might be Pedroia.

There would be no infield hits and lots of DPs.

It would be a killer lineup' date=' but without a bit of speed.[/quote']

Enough OBP to rarely slump though.

Also, Cameron, Bay, Pedey and Scutaro are all capable of 15 SB's.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off if you don't end up getting AG.

They will simply play Youkilis at 3rd, and Kotchman at 1st, as has been the plan all along if they don't acquire a bat, should they sign Bay, they'd play him at LF with Cameron in CF with Ellsbury as the 4th OF.

You'd laugh, but you'd look like a retard while doing it.

Kotchman is not an acceptable plan.

Well.This has been discussed enough.

Besides, there are enough options on the FA market to make an acceptable pickup. Kotchman is a WCS.

I think that Bay is going to the Mets.

There is another angle I haven't heard here. It may be that the Padres are waiting as long as possible before the season starts to trade AG. Trading him now would kill ticket sales...what sales there might be, anyways.

If they're going to trade him, they'll probably do it at the TDL imo.

Makes sense to hang onto him come trade deadline. The Sox could be more desperate than to get him and could then give up a lot of prospects based on where the Sox sit in the standings.

Not to mention other teams. Possibly the Braves. The Angels, perhaps? Maybe the Mariners? If the Mets make a push this year, don't count them out either.

What are the Mets going to push with?

That farm system is barren, and the best position prospect they have, Ike Davis, is probably an inferior hitter to Kyle Blanks, the Padres' best 1B prospect. They can try, but it's doubtful they succeed.

I would agree with you Dipre... but ya never know' date=' the Mets afterall swindled the Twins by getting Johan Santana for Phillip Humber and Carlos Gomez[/quote']

Remember, the Padres have got A-Gon under contract for a longer time, and don't have a need to trade him unlike the Twins.

They are very different situations.

To sum up the last week: lsbury won't be traded. Sox wont spend the money to pay for a LF to replace Ellsbury. Westmoreland is the guy that would be traded in a Gonzalez deal. Holliday and Bay won't be signing with the Sox, there is really no need to. Sox need one more arm down in the pen, I don't want any of the Triple A fodder playing a major role. Sign Duscheserer for long man. Wake will also be in the pen. OT: How close are the Sox to the salary cap anyway? Youk will be the staring thirdbaseman, Kotchman the staring firstbaseman. Lowell will spell Ortiz, Youk or Kotchman when they need a rest or if the Sox are going against lefites. V-Mart plays probably 40 games at 1st too

They're not as close to the salary cap as people think. Lugo's salary doesn't count, and neither will the $9 mill the Sox will probably eat after they trade Lowell.

I assume the arbitration numbers haven't been factored in yet either. But anyway, what exactly is the luxury tax cap and what is the Sox estimated payroll at now? Where the hell have I been hearing this $160 million payroll from?

Right now that would be the total player expenses value, it includes signing bonuses and actual salary instead of AAV, responsibilities from players in another ballclub (Lugo), the actual payroll figure is much lower than 160 mill, even if you account for arbitration figures.(Supposing they pay to rid themselves of Lowell.)

you think they'd play cameron over ellsbury!?! That's less likely than dojji getting hanley ramirez under his tree

Mike Cameron is a better offensive and defensive player, and Ellsbury could get more AB's than Cameron as a 4th OF.

He wouldn't sit neither Cameron nor Bay, specially with Cameron making over 7 mill.

Besides, Bay would probably DH against lefties, with Ellsbury going to left. There're a million ways to sort that out, and none of them has Ells as a starter.

you're silly

If you were Terry Francona, and you had the following OFers:

Bay: .900+ OPS last year, 30+ HRs, 100+ RBI. 15 million salary.

Cameron: .800+ OPS last year, 20+ HR, 80+ RBI.Elite defensively. 7.5 million salary.

JD Drew: .900+ OPS last year, 20+ HR, 60+ RBI. Elite defensively. 14 million salary.

Jacoby Ellsbury: 770+ OPS last year, 8 HR, 70 SB. Questionable defensively. League minimum salary.

Who do you realistically sit?

Oh, and by the way, "silly" is not a proper response.

If you were Terry Francona....

How about I change the question? If I were the manager of the Boston Red Sox... then you may have a point. But realistically, who do you think Tito would play in that situation?

And I'm sorry I'm new here, I'm still trying to figure out what's appropriate and what's not. Yes, what about "silly goose" ?

Posted
lol try champ, champ. anyways I think Tito will want to field his best lineup and in this scenario Ells doesnt make the cut, plus he lacks some of the ego of the more veteran players have so he wont mind as much (im sure hes not delighted about it though) coming off the bench until we can move him or start him.

Lol it was a joke.

But the problem is, with the amount of money Bay, Cameron and Drew would be making, he'd realistically had to start them.

You don't sit 7 million on the bench unless they suck.

Of course this is all hypothetical. If you think that Bay, Ellsbury, Drew, and Cameron will all be on this team then you are sillier than i thought
