Anti-Fantasy League Draft and Discussion Thread

Went with Jermaine Dye, he's a little older than some of the other players I've picked, but he can provide RHH pop off my bench.

 

I'm at the point of the draft where I'm pretty much picking BPA. I'll find ABs for Dye in my lineup.

 

Very solid value pick, despite his age. Nice power, especially considering he'll be coming off your bench.

Thanks for the compliment, I had to do a bit of roster shuffling but I'm liking the way my team is shaping up overall.

So what's happening after the draft? Are we definitely going to have a trade window? And I remember you saying something about voting on who has the best team.

There will be a 2 week trading window and then we'll put the teams up to a vote.

Bergesen will be my fall back starter, in case someone goes down or is struggling. He's got a lot of Nick Blackburn in him. Pitches to contact, good command, could eat up a lot of innings. Doesn't have a real high ceiling, but I like his poise at the age of 23. The fact that he's been effective so far in the AL East is a credit to his ability.

I got a little pissed at myself for Ryan Ludwick, but he's starting to hit, and he should be good value, but maybe i s*** the bed anyway.

Took Cano too early. Could have got a real good first baseman instead. Took Blackburn one round too early. Could have got Kurt Suzuki as my backup catcher. And although I like what Willingham brings to the table offensively, Franklin Gutierrez might have been a better pick based on his stellar defense in center and upside.

He was the 2B i was targeting as soon as the draft started, but i didn't take him because he was playing through and injury (again) and i was like, "Will he ever get healthy?".

 

Such a waste of natural talent.

Elijah Dukes possibly. Other than that I think most of my picks are doing OK and there's some nice upside there. And with Zobrist on hand I have the ability to help myself if I run into trouble with Alex Gordon at third.

Not to sound like Jacko here, but this guy's K rates really jump out at me. Career WHIP of under 1 in the minors, I really think he's got a shot at being a very solid major league reliever.

You managed to get Zobrist's name in to a post that was supposed to be about a pick you regretted making the most.

Frankly, he kind of does factor in. Having a flexible guy with his offensive ability in theory allows me to be patient with certain underperformers and so not regret a pick just because of a lack of immediate performance (such as Gordon, Dukes, or Ankiel)

With all the publicity Drabek's been getting with the whole Halladay business, i was surprised he hadn't been picked yet, so i strengthened my minor league corps with him.
