That's a lot more we can say than other Sox fans who died long since 2004. My great uncle was a huge fan, having coming down here from Boston in the 50s. He died in 2001 and never got to see any of them, and he pretty much taught me all I know about them, so I feel that 2004 was for him, and now 2007 is for me to enjoy.

Can I ask you why?

The FO and Tito said they were going to be very careful with Okajima. If they did not bring him into the game last night, Gagne would have been the choice in the 8th and rightly so.

cause I'm not so sure Gagne hasn't blown a late inning hold situation since he put on a Red Sox uniform

But Okajima nearly did.

Had the Sox lost last night, they'd be in deep trouble tonight. Even with Beckett pitching. They'd have no arms left in the pen.

Props to Tito for going for the win because it worked out. But having Gagne up was the right move and there really couldn't have been much second guessing otherwise.

Here's my post last night before the bottom of the 9th.

I was very worried that we had blown out all the bullpen arms in going for the kill and they wouldn't be available for game 5 and maybe innefective for games 6 and 7. That's what happened to the 2004 Yankees. Torre burned his pen and continued to burn them in game 5. he had nowhere to turn in games 6 and 7. We have Beckett. The yanks had no one like that, but Beckett would probably have had to go 8.

I hear ya, it sucks that she never got to see a title. My parents both passed in 2002. After the '04 win I went to the cemetary at oh, 2:00 a.m....of course I was pretty hammered otherwise I'd have gotten all freaked out. Was pretty eerie but a good memory.

First place I went to after the 04 win was my Great Uncle's grave the next morning. He had a 1975 Pennant that he had given me, Game 6 had meant the world to him, he always talked about Fisk. So when i went I brought that one and a 2004 one I had bought and placed them on his tombstone. Surprisingly, they're still there. Weathered, but there. I'm going there as soon as I can get a 2007 Pennant flag.

The Yankees didn't lose games 6 and 7 because the bullpen was tired. The Red Sox scored 4 runs in game 6, all off of the starting pitcher. They lost game 7 because the starter was bad and there is not too many people to turn to in the second inning.

Even if we didn't score a lot of runs off your starters, they had no relievers to turn to because they had been blown out early in the series. In game 7, the game was out of hand, but we scored off both Gordon and Mo. They had nothing left.

This could very well have happened to the Sox, though.
