The very beginning of baseball tonight I did hear that staement come from the main baseball tonight' date=' cant think of his name now. He clearly said you know Roger will be good for 12 Wins, 100 Ks, an ERA under 3[/quote']

Ah. I just watched the 2nd part, and the "bold" predictions.

I'm in shock; I definitely thought he'd end up in Boston.

Then your name is a misnomer.

The sox will save the money and get Andruw Jones next year, or Ichiro, or someone who isn't on HGH and 44 years old.

f*** that douche. clearly he wants money over a championship

He wants money AND a championship.

Look at the Yankee rotation by july:

Clemens

Wang

Moose

Pettitte

Hughes

This sucks. Every year the Yankees do not have the best team until July. It's in July when they find out who is not working out [injuries, slump] so they use their money to make a big move that no other team can do. This pisses me off. I thought this is the year the Yanks dont make the playoffs, now they got Clemens???? He better get hurt or suck because he's 45 years old. I f***in hate the Yankees.

I'll give you Wang and Clemens. Clemens prior to the post season, where, historically, he blows.

So what? Clemens is the 'ace' now? This is a guy who is 45 years old who couldn't be bothered to be ready to pitch by MAY. Now you're going to pay him more than Alex Rodriguez to come and save the staff? Yeah, how has that overpaying for *******s worked out in the past? Good luck with that one. I'll keep Daisuke, Beckett and Schilling, thanks.

The last time the Sox saw Clemens he was walking off the mound in the 2003 ALCS game 7, down by 4 runs with 2 on and nobody out looking old and tired. Then he played in the offensively innept NL Central and you all expect him to come back and carry your team to the next level? Ha!

An ERA under 3 in the AL East?

baseball tonight guys can be retarded at times, especially Kruk. a couple years ago when RJ went to the yanks he was going on about RJ could win 30 games with NY because of their offense, and he was dead serious about it too.

How will the bullpen be by July? B)

What bullpen? They are a f***ing joke. Add 18m (4.5m/month x 4 months) to the 195m payroll for a cool 213m. I'm pretty sure one could put together a better team for this amount of money than what the Yankees have. I would be embarassed if I were a Yankee fan, first because this team has no pitching, and second because their payroll is so much greater than everyone elses (1.5 times the Sox payroll at this point).

Based on the injury history factor....I would expect some guys to land on the DL again. The chances of that rotation being healthy and 100%....slim

Why are Yankee fans getting so excited about Clemens. The guy is 44 years old and even in the NL Central the last few years was what a 5 innings pitcher at the most. He's moving into the A.L East from the N.L Central which isn't that great of an offensive division. This guy will be lucky if his ERA is under 4 by the end of the year. He's old and should retire it's as simple as that.

i would stick up for yanks fans and say we would be just as excited, but the difference is he wouldnt coming back as our ace, he would be a 3-5 guy for us

And this is why you should never dispute the moniker of troll again. You can't take the heat when things aren't rosy' date=' so you wait until they are. Here's to a long wait.[/quote']

Like the one you had for 86 years? Call me what you want, in my book, you're a loser, like your team has been for 89 years with one exception.

Say what you want about the Yankees, it's been said before. At least they get a return on their investment. I would probably say that in the history of professional sports in this country, considering the amount of money and resources available, that the Red Sox are one of the, if not the worst run organizations historically.

Is that troll enough for you moron?

Umm...you are talking about the post-season where he out dueled Schilling in game 7 in Arizona? You guys give Schilling this god like status, he went 1-1 against Jon Lieber, I believe. Wake up.

Game 7, Yankees vs. Red Sox ALCS.

Who do you take Schilling or Clemens? Obviously, the Yankee hitting is better, so dismiss that. Who would you rather see pitching for YOUR team.

Brilliant. Extrapolated success from the team you root for. You have bigger issues than I thought.

The past of these two teams means dick to what happens tomorrow, and even less about who you or I are. Get f***ing over yourself. You root for the Yankees. Want a cookie?

Um, Schilling. Because the last time the Red Sox faced Clemens in the ALCS, he walked off the mound down 4 runs. Now, we all know how it turned out, but we also know how it turned out with Schilling pitching for us.

Yep the Yankees always get a return on their investment. How about some recent transactions? Farnsworth has been a lights out 8th inning reliever after signing that 3 year/$18 million contract

After the worst choke in playoff history, the Yankees "rebounded" by signing Carl Pavano (4 years/$40 million) & Jaret Wright (3 years/$21 million).

Hmm for those combined 7 years/$61 million

21-18, 4.91 ERA

62 games (59 starts) 315.1 innings, 379 Hits, 200 Runs (172 ER), 36 HRs, 119 Walks, 178 Ks

Keep dreaming that Matsuzaka will be a bust, he's no Kei Igawa 5 years/$46 million. A guy making that much money will go to the bullpen or even demoted to Triple A

86 years, 1918, uh Jeff Bagwell, dee dee dee

Gom, come on. Get over it. The fact that you can't stick around here when the Yanks are sucking has nothing to do with the past, and everything to do with your status as a member here.

Schilling, and only an idiot who hasn't paid attention the last 20 years says otherwise. Curt went 1-1 against Lieber? Funny, could have sworn his ankle was so jacked in the first game it took experimental surgery for him to pitch the rest of that postseason. Check the stats, Gom. Schilling is one of the best postseason pitchers ever. Roger's had some success, but he's pulled up lame or s*** the bed just as often. Game 7? Curt all the way.

Are you embarrassed that your team payroll is more than double of the Twins? Or that you dwarf 28 other teams in baseball? That you spent over $50 million just to TALK to a pitcher, that you doled out over 100 million for a pitcher who never even had thrown a pitch in the majors or the minors in this country?

Dude, get real. This is what I love about the Sox this year. You went nuts in the off-season, and then you have the audacity to talk about the Yankees? The Yankees, between YES and their team, are valued at over 2.4 billion. Oh wait, we can't sign the player because it won't be fair?

Life ain't fair. You only bitch about us because we are the only team to outspend you. You fail to realize that you dwarf every other team in baseball when it comes to payroll. Even with Clemens, you still outspent us. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Embarrased? Why? Our rotation has been the best in the league, our bullpen has been dominant, our hitting good. You can't fault a team for spending money when it wins you games. You can when you're under .500.

Well, considering the one time they faced each other, Clemens outpitched him, I'm not surprised at what you said. However, truthfully, I'd be pretty satisfied with either one.

We spent $50M to plant a Red Sox flag in Asia, to expand our market, to have Red Sox games televised over there, to sell Red Sox paraphernalia; to make a friggin' INVESTMENT. The $50M goes way farther than you would like to believe it does. It's essentially the same thing as upgrading Fenway Park, but instead of doing so, we expanded our mark on the world map. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. We could make that $50M back in no time.

Wait, so your Yankees are paying Clemens $6.5M per MONTH, and you have the audacity to bring up your skewed Matsuzaka argument?

And as far as your signing a player...I don't care. If you have the resources, go for it. I don't disagree with you there.

How about faulting a team for spending $150 million to finish in 3rd place.

So basically, you are saying it is ok to spend money if it wins you games? Great. Talk to you in a month. Better yet, look at the last 11 seasons standings for the AL East.

Look, you guys are now in the same boat as we are. As long as George is alive, we will outspend you. Period. As long as Henry is around, you will outspend everyone else. End of story. Your argument about money rings extremely hollow considering you spent $200 million LAST OFFSEASON.

You know what's funny? Go back and look at the posts. When you got Matsuzaka, I congratulated your front office and your fans. Numerous times. I am a good sport, after all

When we got Clemens....

Case closed.

Okay, so when the Yankees spent money, they won the division? Yeah, that was basically my point. Not like the Red Sox weren't at all competitive in that time.

I think it was a good move to sign Clemens. It solidifies your rotation very much, and it will win you games.
