I figured that I should just post this now. At least it's officially game day (even if it's still April 15th in every timezone but the eastern). There's no way I will be up in time to post this before the game in the morning. On Patriots Day I normally just wake up and turn on the TV in my room and watch the first few innings before actually getting up. So...in order for this thread to exist (because I won't be on the computer before 10am), I'll just do it now. If the game gets postponed, oh well. I'll update the starting time if it gets changed. As of now, I haven't heard of a delayed start so that's good. EDIT: Game moved to 12:05pm.

Happy Patriots Day! Today features Ervin Santana vs. Josh Beckett. Great pitching match-up. This also means that should the Sox get today's game in, Schilling, Beckett and Matsuzaka will pitch this weekend at Fenway against the Yankees. Anyway, back to today's game... I expect the Sox bats to get enough done while Beckett goes out and silences the weak bats of the Angels. Prediction: Beckett will go 7 IP with 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 8 K and gets the W. Sox win 4-2 and Papelbon gets the save! GO SOX!

Whats the weather suppose to look like throughout the day? I'm down in Washington DC and we're suppose to have 60 mph winds by the time they would be throwing out the first pitch in boston.

Francona optimistic about playing

By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff

Since he arrived at Fenway at 6:30 this morning, Terry Francona has been getting a steady diet of weather updates from Sox prez Larry Lucchino. He feels more optimistic than ever that today's game, which is scheduled to start at noon, will be played.

As I write, the rain has just picked up again.

"The field will take time to get ready," said Francona, "but we have a legitimate chance to play this game." Francona pointed out that the drainage at Fenway is top notch and estimated the ground crew would need between an hour to 90 minutes to get the field playable.

With Josh Beckett pitching today, Francona admitted that another rain out would cause havoc with his pitching rotation. he did say that Julian Tavarez was going to pitch Thursday regardless of what transpires. Tavarez will be pitching on 12 days rest. We'll have the lineups coming up.

Tavarez on 12 days rest? Maybe he will only give up 4 runs instead of the usual 8 or so hes good for...

I'd say the longer he doesn't pitch the better off we will be, trade him to the Yankees, they need some pitching, JT is garbage... I'd rather see Snyder or countless others pitch in the 5 hole. JT just lose's it mentally, and after that it doesn't matter how good hes throwing... Hopefully someone will be desperate enough to want him at the TDL, or we can package him as a extra player in some trade...

I can almost guarantee Ortiz is getting drilled today. Scoscia doesnt mess around. You come up and in on their best player and you get your own blasted.

i doubt it because of the warning that was given
