In other, less sad (and less important) news Josh Beckett looks prety darn good. He isn't using his curveball as a "look at this nasty curveball I have" pitch, it's a get-it-over-for-strikes pitch. He's throwing it earlier and his changeup looks very good. At this point, at least, he's a 3 pitch pitcher with confidence with all his pitches.

 

they said he's slowed down his delivery and he appears to be somewhat subdued on the mound, not the firery Josh Beckett we saw on and off last year.

 

That's something that really impressed me about King Felix. He just went about his business and didn't ride the emotional rollar coaster.
