I have to admit, Phil's inability to locate pitches with two strikes is very concerning. I understand that this is his first year, but he is supposed to be a strikeout pitcher. He is awful with two strikes at this point.

EDIT: Phil is either off the plate or right down the middle.

Honestly, that is so stupid by Minky to try and take second. Cabrera can't get anyone out if his life depended on it, and you give away an out. The only thing that can do is give Cabrera some confidence back.

Minky got us the 2 runs, but killed a bigger inning. If Minky was on 1st, then I think Cabrera changes his mindset. Either way, nearly 50 pitches in 2 innings. We get him out by the 5th potentially and their pen is toast. Did you see those numbers? 9.6ERA last 26 games, and last night they used 7 of their 9 pen arms in an extra inning loss in Toronto. So long as Hughes stays near the plate, this game is turning in our favor.

Agreed on all counts.

Even if the Yankees dugout didn't think Edwar was ready, why wouldn't Posada go out and talk to Hughes to stall? It's probably not that big a deal, but the count is basically starting at 1-0.

EDIT: Huge batter here, especially with Detroit about to pick up another win.

Joe going to Mo in the 9th inning of an 8-4 game with two outs and two on. Mo threw 29 pitches last night. Stupid move by Clueless Joe. Detroit lost tonight, and he has a cakewalk schedule the rest of the way, but he is playing this like it is a World Series game. I don't get it, but it makes me happy that he is wearing out his biggest weapon.

BTW: Huff has great #'s against Mo.

I can't believe Moose has given up two hits in six innings. Looks like we have another one in the books, and hoping the Blue Jays can even it up in Toronto.

Gom, I know that you think the wild card is over, but even if it's just to count down the magic number, you should keep an eye on the Tigers-Guardians game lol.

Mussina spins a gem and had his velocity in the 89-90 range all night long. This likely seals him as our 4th and final starter in the playoffs.

1. Wang

2. Pettitte

3. Clemens

4. Mussina

Not a bad top 4 if they stay healthy.

True, but I don't think that would be the order they would start in a best of five series (assuming the Yankees win the wild card and they can manipulate their rotation to start whoever they want).

All these base runners were bound to cost Pettitte eventually.

Should have had a double play there, but A-Rod is starting to struggle defensively. They're lucky they got the out at first there.

EDIT: Ok, nine more outs to go, but only a run one game. With an off-day tomorrow, Joe should do everything he can to get this win.
