Well wasn't everyone surprised that the Mets couldn't finish out the depleted Cards? Is Yadier Molina the only player that isn't hurt or useless, Spiezio and Taguchi notwithstanding?

Anyways, I hope they make it at least a five game series and not completely roll over like in '04...

I was hoping for a Mets-Tigers world series so I would be happy with either outcome. Now I'm rooting for the Tigers. It's not that I have anything against the Cardinals, it's just like...it seems like they've been in it every year and they kind of bore me (minus Pujols). I won't care who wins, but part of me wanted to see a game 7 go into the 20th inning and the Mets pinch hit Julio Franco and he hits a go ahead homerun to win the title for the Mets.

I was rooting for the Mets too for 2 reasons:

1. It would piss Steinbrenner off.

2. They're just plain a more interesting team. Orlando Hernandez would have come back and helped out the pitching staff, Beltran/Delgado/Wright/Reyes is an exciting offense, Tom Glavine's a solid pitcher..... The Cardinals are Pujols and a bunch of mediocre players.

The Cardinals have surprised me at EVERY level. If I were a betting man I'd have put it on San Diego, then on the Mets, and I'd put it on the Tigers....

Game 1: Verlander v. Reyes

Game 2: Rogers v. Weaver

Game 3: Robertson v. Carpenter

Game 4: Bonderman v. Suppan

Verlander will most likely outduel Reyes and Weaver - I dare not take a breath. But I can't root for Kenny Rogers and Pudge "I-lost-25-lbs-the-winter-post-steroids scandal" Rodriguez. Hopefully Carpenter will BRING it and Pujols has to be more productive. Meh, Cardinals in six.

Have to go with the Tigers in 6 I don't think the Cards are just going to roll over like in 2004. I think they will put up a fight of some sort but still come short in the series. Tigers are just too good of a team, for the Cardinals to compete with. Detroit has way too many solid starters.

"Good triumphs over evil."

Need I say more. Thank you, come again.

Cards git'r done in game one. If they can steal a game with Weaver against the Roaster, they are in the driver's seat with Carpenter throwing game 3 at home. Has a team less than 4 games over .500 at the end of the regular season ever won it all before?

As I have been saying, the Tigers are not as good as everyone (mostly Yankee fans because they refuse to acknowledge that their team choked) is giving them credit. Also, the talent level between the two leagues is starting to close. Having the DH does not make the AL better. I believe this year's interleague results were an aberration.

Not really surprised that St Louis took Game 1. Detroit has been sitting for a week and St Louis was just coming off a win the day before they had momentum, Detroit sat too long. But as you see tonight Detroit is up 2-0 into the bottom of the 3rd and so far Kenny Rogers has pitched well. Even though it's early Detroit will win this game tonight, they are just too good for St Louis to handle.

The picture by Fox seems to raise speculation that Rogers is loading the ball. I noticed on HD that there was some brown discoloration behind his left ear. By the 2nd inning Rogers had cleaned up his hand and behind his ear. You can tell the Cards bench is buzzing over this. It's hard to imagine that a pitcher would even dare to try loading the ball during a WS when there are cameras everywhere.

Like Schil, I am somewhat bored with the Cardinals, but have always liked them and don't mind having them in the series. Either way, since no NY team is involved, I won't mind the outcome. Since the Tigers beat the Yankees I have been pulling for them, and I would love to see them win it. I think the organization and city deserves it. Same with the Cards.

I'm picking the Cardinals in either 5 or 6. I just think a full week off for the Tigers will hurt more than it will help. And the Cardinals are riding a hot streak coming into the series + their Game 1 win.

I just plan on sitting back and enjoying this series.

Also, sorry for posting this general post so late. I havent been on in a few days. Didnt mean to go off-topic.

Kenny Rogers is looking for retribution in one post-season for the bum rap given to him by New York fans, both Yankee and Met fans. He has alway been a good pitcher. You don't win over 200 games in the bigs with an almost .600 win % without being pretty good. The overbearing, egocentric world of NY fans and media made him out to be somewhat of a joke in their quest for a scapegoat for their teams' failures. Go Kenny! Make your mark and prove the arrogant *******s in NY wrong. I live in NY and they had me believing their garbage. Now they are intent on running ARod out of town and ruining him. Maybe he will get his retribution with another team.
