I hate to remind you guys but this is a REBUILDING YEAR. Like it or not and live with it.

its more like retooling and letter the younger guys get worked in while still competing.....i'm happy with that.

ok now im just hoping we dont get swept

MDC is going through a bad phase, hopefully quick. Since the Break he has now had 3 blown saves

That blown save stat is overrated considering its in the 7th inning and not the 9th inning.

I think we should trade Mark Loretta and Trot Nixon for some pitching help. Bring up Dustin Pedroia and let Willy Mo Pena start.

....perhaps that will light a spark on this team

seeing less of nixon might be better. he has no bat anymore.

This is a really good point. Lowell, Loretta, Schilling, Nixon's health, Wells' knee, and a few other things were all question marks going into the season. Luckily, most of them have come up spades, and it was looking like moving some pieces to round out the roster would be a good idea to make a strong run at another title. However, the Braves' resurgence has taken Smoltz off the market, IMO, and he was the only real difference maker that might have been available.

Rebuilding while maintaining a $130 million payroll and charging $45-50 for seats behind girders is not an economically sound approach.

it may not be to you but i don't see the red sox suffering at the gate as they sell out every night.

Selling those seats 240 consecutive times, something must be working.

Im not bashing him or anything, just laying down the fact that he is in a rough stretch recently. Those 3 blowns saves were when he came into the game and the Sox had the lead so it still has some effect.

last 3 appearances

2.1 innings, 8 Hits, 6 Runs

------------

Thank you Javier Lopez!!!!! Woohoo back to a half game lead over the Yanks, Im going to sleep. And guess what we're facing Jered Weaver tomorrow, more rest for the Sox bats

I don't look at a BS before the 9th or even the 8th inning. to me you shouldn't get a BS in the 7th inning when the game still has a ways to go.

Replace Papelbon with Murphy and you got a deal! Any dissenters?

As a fan of making a move for Smoltz when it looked like he was available, yeah. That's two of our better BP arms, our best position prospect, and a resurgent prospect raking at the highest MiLB level. That's just too much for a half year rental. Make it one of the relievers, and one of the position prospects, and I'm right on with it.

And they would n't be suffering at the gate if they rebuilt the correct way by paring down the payroll by $30 million. They would have more surplus funds with which to rebuild and additional profits. The Sox will sell out for an extended period. So, if maximizing profits is the business goal, they are not rebuilding correctly. They could have much bigger profit margins without the high paid veterans like Lowell and Varitek, etc.

Howie Kendrick is another example of why you don't give AB's to aging veterans. (Kennedy)
I was glad that Kennedy was not in the lineup, probably because we are throwing a lefty, because he has always been a thorn in our sides-- a very tough out. He'll probably play tomorrow and Sunday and kill us.

Not to mention that Lowell and Gonzo and to a lesser extent Youk are playing way above expectation. And then there's Papelbon... Imagine if these guys weren't producing? There was all the hope in the world that these guys would produce as they have, but as Theo himself said in his going away speech, give the kids a break. Tell me that's not a rebuilding year in the making and that we are quite lucky to be in the situation we are in.

Just enjoy this year. And yes, 2004 has everything to do with my logic.

Kennedy isn't in the lineup because Kendrick is better than him and should have been playing over him for awhile.

Id say there are no objections in the front office to the Sox taking on Lowell. And he's just signed thru next season
