He could go Tony Womack or Bernie Williams on us, and show his age really fast.

Face it, he's going to want a two to three year contract. He's not going to be the same player toward the end of his career.

So what. He won't be getting 10 or 12 million. If his wheels come off, the Red Sox are one of the lucky teams with the financial resources to handle that. If you sign him for 2 years and Pedroia wins the job, Loretta could be moved at the trading deadline in '07 or after '07.

Damn, sucks to give up a double to a guy that looks like he just dropped the crack pipe.

This is a big game. Tomorrow they have Jared Weaver going against Home Run Derby Beckett. The Yankees have already won, and they have good matchups for the rest of the weekend.

lester shouldve been pulled after the game was tied

Yeah, I was waiting for that. Francona did the right thing. The pitch count was low enough. If MDC came in and gave up a hit you'd be saying "Lester should not have been pulled so early." We've heard it before. Yawn. There should be a yawn smiley.

I will be in Jacksonville. I'll miss the entire series. :(

Damn, I've got an extra ticket that Rick gave me for the birth of my daughter. I was going to take my brother, but he's got a tournament that weekend. Oh well.

but its the truth...

Lester at the time the game was tied had already given up 9 hits and was about to face the top of the order (pitch count isnt everything).

We are all giddy with the kids and fat Wells coming back that people think this team is fine as it is. It is not. The kids are nice, but this is the kind of game that Smoltz would go 8 and turn it over to Papelbon for the save.

Anyone else beginning to think Coco has been missing a lot of cutoff men lately. Sunday comes to mind -- and that was the last game I watched due to work -- and now he just missed two on consecutive plays. That's troublesome.

Yanks get another game on us.....at least we held 1st place for a long time this season
They held it longer last year, and if they don't win the division this year, they will be going home after September, but that's okay because they will have the future on the farm.

Howie Kendrick is another example of why you don't give AB's to aging veterans. (Kennedy)

no doubt. kennedy should have been on the bench at the end of last year.

Not necesarily, amidst all the talk that the Wild Card will be out of the Central, the Yankees lead the WC.

Yes! I agree!

Let's trade Lester for Lieber!

Hansen, Delcarmen, Pedoria, and Papelbon for Smoltz!
