Plus, it seems that he thrives on the high pressure atmosphere.

That's what I mean. He's not the best offensive SS around, but he doesn't seem to let the situation get the better of him, ever. Gamer.

And boom. My mlb.tv goes down. I hate my life. It's 90 degrees IN my apartment in stinky Atlanta, no MLB package on TV because my cable company sucks. My computer sucks. I had to cancel my porn subscription because of Windows Media issues. My boss thinks I hate her. The Sox are down 1-0. I'm fat. Life sucks. I can barely muster a smiley :(

that would suck...they should keep the infield just how it is.

Nope. It's Peddy's time to shine.

agreed. DPeddy has more range and a better bat. Loretta is 34 and his skills have diminished. I will thank loretta for this season and send him on his way.

Do you think he was checking his swing? He seemed to me to just be pushing the ball that way.

He didn't mean to swing at that ball. it was definitely an excuse me swing.

you sure they would just have him start?

i mean loretta is an all star 2nd baseman.

loretta was only an allstar because cano was hurt and roberts was hurt for part of the year. who cares if he is an allstar. the sox have his replacement hitting .310 in triple A.

It would be an interesting question for the post-game interview.

But instead Tina Cervasio will probably ask Francona about Lester's balls.

Tough call there, could have gone either way. Send this chucker back to the dugout and give the bats a chance to get you the lead, Jon.

Loretta has been a very big part of the offensive production in front of Ortiz and Manny. He was a key acquisition for the top of the order, especially in light of losing Damon. Pedroia as a rookie will not have the professionalism to replace Loretta as the #2 guy in the order. That leaves them looking for a #2 batter. Would you go Crisp and Youk 1 and 2? I'm not so sure that Crisp is a good leadoff hitter. Also, why wouldn't you have Pedroia caddy next year for Loretta and Gozo like Cora is doing this year. If he proves himself he wins the spot. If he flops, Loretta is a nice safety net.

thats pretty much what im saying...what if he struggles? then what?

i feel safer with loretta. he fits in great at the 2 spot.

Because you don't need to waste 5 million plus dollars on a declining player when Pedroia is more than capable of holding the spot fulltime next year. thank you very much loretta but i will pass on resigning you and use your money on getting more pitching.

Because Pedroia is ready for the next level. The longer he caddy's, the longer it takes him to get to full potential at this level. I've never been a fan of having a blue-chip prospect rookie ride the pines for the big club because that just slows down the learning curve. Everyone needs to take their lumps, some more than others, so just get them out of the way with consistent playing time.
