a little off topic, but on the point of how uneducated our country is, I saw something today that 1/3 of the people in this country that were surveyed didn't know where Lousiana was.

sickning i agree. someone needs to do something about it and that is one reason why i am becoming a teacher.

They thought it sunk and now is next to Atlantis.

I was planning on booing him and when he came out io just wanted to cheer. we're saying its okay for Foulke to make comments like he did regarding the money. Damon feels the same way and went for the money. So I am undecided.

haha that is rediculous....and there are so many holding it up someone must have noticed.

I'm sorry, but its my job to be an *******. Its almost as ridiculous as the way you spelled "rediculous"

Ok, sorry.

Rocket was completely different, in my opinion. If either of them deserve the boos, Damon does by far. Even though I don't think either of them deserved them. Oh well, what's done is done. I would love to have Rocket back. I've explained my thoughts on Rocket many times so I'm not going to again, but I never understood why people thought he was a traitor. Boo him for wearing pinstripes sure, but because he's a traitor? No.

I don't think Clemens would come back only if he was offered the most money. Finishing his career in Boston is different than any athlete choosing to end their careers somewhere for money. Ending in Boston with a possible world series run would only add to his legacy.

Besides, I'm not sure I understand where you're coming from. Why does Damon factor into our liking to having Roger come back?

Good point.

My thinking was its a bit hypocritical to get a boner over Damon leaving town for cash and the messing your pants over a guy who left town for cash AND played for the MFY's.. and now you want him back at any expense..

The difference, Damon played here for 4 years and was good, Clemens pitched here for 12 years and was great

The difference is not just that.

The difference is that Clemens stopped in Toronto. He also left because the management was horrible to him. Damon went straight to the Yanks. I have no ill feelings toward Roger, nor Damon because I'd probably take the money too, but if we're comparing the two's situations, Roger's is much more understandable.

Those of us that were there last night and had the dickless minds to make disparaging comments about his wife are the drunken *******s that give fans around here a bad name, no wonder why he didn't want her anywhere near it all, I can't say as I blame him.

Give or take, sometimes gotta love the things that Wells says

Once a Yankee: Wells backs Fenway fans’ take on Damon

By Michael Silverman/ Red Sox Notebook

Wednesday, May 3, 2006 - Updated: 02:23 AM EST

David Wells was not exactly in an agreeable frame of mind with his former manager Joe Torre last night. When told how the Yankees manager expressed disappointment in Red Sox fans for booing ex-Sox and current Yankee Johnny Damon on Monday night, Wells said, “Awww, poor Joe. Joe’s been around a long time. If he’s going to have remarks like that, I guess he’s getting too sensitive.”

Wells understood perfectly the mentality of Red Sox and Yankees fans. He received a standing ovation as a Padre after his Yankee stint, and was booed lustily last year in New York when he came back as a Red Sox. “It’s a good rivalry. It’s good for the fans or not,” said Wells. “It depends on who gets their (butt) kicked.”

-----“I was a little disappointed in the reaction by the fans. I guess we should feel proud. Evidently wearing a Yankee uniform overrides winning a World Series and busting your tail for years. Without Johnny here, they may have been working on 89 or 90 years [without a championship]. It’s too bad they don’t appreciate that more so than they dislike the fact that he’s wearing our uniform."-----

Since fans like throwing things at players this year, I would throw quarters at him, but that's just me.

I TOTALLY called this, gotta give myself some dap for this.

This was probably one of my favorite Damon quotes in an article on yankees.com

"Those fans [that booed] are just the kind of people who wish they were in my spot -- they really do. They've got no class."

The more I read what Johnny says, the more I love him. I love how he doesn't sugar coat anything and just says what's on his mind. I am really glad that he still wasn't kissing up to Sox fans after the way they treated him. IMO he should have gotten a standing ovation his first time up then booed viciously with money thrown at him after that. I just think it's a shame he got bascially zero appreciation from the fans at the game.

Zero appreciation? When he tipped his cap the cheers were almost more present than the boos.

Be careful what you wish for. Don't say your happy that he just says what's on his mind. That statement will bite you in the ass once you get used to his big mouth. He had one here, and he'll have one in New York.

How do you feel about Schilling?

Posted
They would say it's different. But it's not, except Schill doesn't ttalk about how much he LOVES his old teams.

Has Johnny ever said he would like nothing more than to shut up 50,000 New Yorkers? No. Damon also doesn't have public feuds with coaches (ie. Pinella). Oh, and people have this to say about him:

"You couldn't hear anybody else over Schilling," Miller said. "He was berating our manager, our ownership, all the way to our waterboys. He was kind of contradicting himself yelling at us and telling us how to play the game when he's going out there stirring the pot and being immature about it. So I find that ironic and pretty sad, especially for a guy that has all that time in the game."

Not to mention he was number 4 on GQ's 10 most hated athletes. link

So avid is Schilling’s longing for the spotlight that some of his peers raise doubts about his now legendary turn in the 2004 postseason, when he pitched on an ankle tendon that had been sutured in place. During Game 6, cameras cut repeatedly to the bright red stain on Schilling’s sock. It was blood, right? “The Diamondbacks people think he definitely doctored that sock,” says the sportswriter. The ex-teammate laughs: “All around baseball, people questioned that. It was funny how the stain didn’t spread.”

Oh, and can't forget when Schilling blamed the batter in ST for the ball hitting him. Class act right there my friends.

So please, do not even get me started on how obnoxious and rude Schilling is. I was merely saying I like how Damon tells it how it is when he is interviewed, compared to people like Arod who only give the polite and PC answers.

Hypocrite. If you love Johnny for speaking his mind, then everything you just posted about Schilling should just make your day, because all he is doing is speaking his mind there. Yeah, it rubs some people the wrong way, and that is why he made that list. Is Curt a jerk sometimes? I'd say yes, but at least he's honest.

Admit it, you don't like Johnny so much for speaking his mind as much as you just like what he said because it put some Sox fans down. And, as we all know, that is just butter on the muffin for a Yankee fan.

No. You are wrong. Johnny speaks the truth and isn't a jerk about it. There's a major difference here. I had no idea how Johnny conducted himself in interviews and I had never heard of his "big mouth". On the other hand, I knew all about Curt's rude remarks and loathed him for it. It's just refreshing I guess to heard J speak compared to Arod who says stupid things like he doesn't even believe in a slump, but now you are arguing with me and now I'm basically stressing my point a little more than I wanted to in the first place and glorifying Johnny's interviews, which is not what I intended to do. SO, Back to my original thought, I like Johnny and his demeanor in interviews and how he doesn't try to say what's PC.

I'd cheer his first at-bat...fact of the matter is, without him, I whole-heartedly believe there wouldn't be a championship yet in Boston and we'd be entering the 88th year of "The Curse".

After that, he's just another Yankee.

Fair enough, but just so you know, JD isn't always honest with tact like you claim. Sometimes he's honest and spiteful. He piled on and was part of the s*** talking about ARod in ST of '05.
