Not sure this warrented a new thread, but here goes:

Can we please just send the fatman packing!!!!!! I saw an interview with him on NESN where all he talked about was what a great honor it was to pitch for the yankees and how it was the best time in his life. Everytime he got a chance he brought up the yanks, even saying how he was surprised that he signed with the sox since he's always on the other side of the rivalry. ( i bet that booing at the toilet last year really hurt him:rolleyes: )

Now today we hear that wells is appologizing to selig for the comments about the yanks WBC sign. (the we are sorry all are stars are at the WBS one) . He obviously still has yanks on the brain---and he sucks------------------dump him!

Ok end of rant!:D

it would be one thing if he wasn't on the dl and was still productive, but at this point I hope he retires.

hes esentially a mercenary at this point...which would be cool if he wasn't lame.

Nobody likes Wells, and nobody likes the idea of him pitching for the Red Sox, but it seems that we don't have any better options right now. This is something that the front office should have seen coming when they made the decision to trade Arroyo for Wily Mo Strikeouts. Without Wells, we don't have a lefty starter.

I think that getting him healthy and trading him mid-season is the best way to deal with the problem. Until then, I think we have to ride it out.

We have Dinardo, and i will take him anyday over wells! I have just had enough of his: "i love the yanks" crap and the badmouthing of tito during the offseason. Let's dump the guy and move on!

wow, he was your best pitcher down the stretch last yr, a proven playoff horse, and just recovering from knee surgery and you wanna dump him after one start? You guys are harsh....
Posted
No. I say we hold onto him and just not let him pitch. You know the Yankees would jump on him if we let him go, and even though I hate the fat slob, he's probably going to pitch ok for some stretch this year.
Posted
he is a necessary hate. we need him cuse he is a lefty and hate him cuse he is still a yank at heart. either way, this is the last year he will be in the league. i say let the fatman walk after this season and go after scott kazmir. the kid is only 22 i think and would fill that lefty role. last year he went 10-9 with the d-rays with a 3.77 era. i dont know how long the d-rays have him signed or anything, but that is who i want to see in a sox uniform.

hes a fat, lazy s*** who doesnt really care about pitching anymore. I also hate how hes injured all the time. Id rather have Dinardo as the 5th starter than Wells

Wow...thats actually surprising, becuase didn't he tell Yankee fans to shut up or something like that, I thought he was mad becuase all Yankee fans were like...we still like him...or something like that

Did he really say that? This is great news. Good to hear he doesnt hate us like we though last year, and that he still has some loyalty. What show was this on, like a pre or post game or something? I'll have to tune into NESN in hopes of catching the interview.

I have just had enough of his: "i love the yanks" crap and the badmouthing of tito during the offseason. Let's dump the guy and move on!

He definately hasnt been "I love the yanks" at all since going there. This si the first pro-Yankee thing i'm hearing of from David Wells.

And I dont remember any trash talking Tito in the offseason. I must have missed it. What happened?

I thought he was mad becuase all Yankee fans were like...we still like him...or something like that

He was mad because we booed him last year at the Stadium "Cleveland-style".

..just for the record, I wouldnt have booed him. I was EXTREMELY PISSED when he signed in Boston, but I love Boom too much to boo him.

He called him an idiot for not doing something with the rotation going into the season.

I don't remember what show it was on. I work from home so if i am getting some computer stuff done then i will flip on NESN or *gulp*ESPNEWS! He wasn't this way last year from what i can remember---but he is now!

He called Tito an idiot for something (don't exactly remember) and that's when i wanted to dump him. Call me old fashioned, but if one of the "spotlight" guys is publically calling the manager an idiot----dump him!

I don't care if we dump him or just DL him the rest of the year, just don't let him pitch. He asked for a trade, wants to be a yank, and calls tito an idiot!-----i just don't care what he can possibly bring to the table---let's not pitch him again!

I'm really glad none of you guys that want to dump Wells have the button.

no s*** huh.. come the end of the season we'll be counting on him. especially playoff time.

I don't care for his act. I want him out.

However, the man knows (knew) how to pitch. His control and his pitching in the clutch, and his carrer numbers will despite the groans earn him a place in the HOF someday. He also owned the Sox for some period of years.

Mr. Wells - that way to the bar, and get fatter and older, and maybe punched out for being a jerk. I don't care anymore, but I will not forget you could do. But if its all the same to you, I would like it if you kept your mouth zipped in my memories.

Yeah I completley agree. The Sox should just release the guy he's what 42 years old and can barely pitch anymore. They need to put a guy like Dinardo or Papelbon into the rotation. Either one would be alot better than having Wells in there.

26 to 6 that's the gayest picture that I have ever seen in my life.

I know. It made me laugh.

...but anyways, I saw the Wells interview today. Wasnt as big as you guys made it out though. You made it seem like he was having a Yankees lovefest or something. All he did was talk about the atmosphere of the Yankees and Yankee Stadium, and "if something good is going to happen, it's going to happen at Yankee Stadium" or something ike that.

Wells is indicating that he may retire. Could this pave the way to Clemens' return.

Wells is going to do what he wants, he always has. You and I are about the same age, and we both know that there are things that we can't do ( or at least as well as we could as we used to ) when we were younger. Well's will determine in mental & physical state and make his decision. The defference between the two, is that Roger ( who also thinks of himself first ) , has never demonstrated the abilty to dominate in the play-offs. I loved Roger when he first came up and the next few years. But he sucked in the play-offs ( at least with us ), and came in overweight and sucked in the next few years. He was paid as a # 1 and produced as a # 4 or #5. He has never produced in the clutch.

He'd be a great addition for a struggling team with poor attendence, but that is not the case with the Sox. Roger is not coming to the Red Sox.

Yea Wells is a jerk, he is almost bi polar. He says he hates the fans of new york and then says it was his favorite time. Even though the yankees suck he could at least be honest unlike another one of our friends, I forgot his name, oh yea Damon something. So yea, and ontop of that he can't even start consitently, get rid of him. Hopefully they can find one more pitcher to get them an even better rotation
Posted
I agree, lets get him out. He is old, overweight and not pitching very well. Maybe give him a few more starts, but if he is losing methodically they're going to have to find an alternative

I def saw a different interview than you (there are a few floating around on NESN). The one that i saw had him ballwashing the yanks. I really don't have a problem with his love fest with the yanks----i do have a problem when he does it as a member of the sox! Let him love the yanks in retirement!

Just wanted to make sure you still feel this way about DiNardo.
