Oh, so they'll only go to the important games? Not the ones that don't mean much even though it would really help the team if it saw a full house in the stands?

Hm, I see how it is.

I dont think any of them were expecting the game to even be played. Why brave the perils of the bronx to watch a game get rained out? I wouldnt.

People, let the Sox fans whine. If our team was as pathetic as theirs has proven to be, we'd probably be complaining about dumb things as well.

Thats pretty much what its about. They have nothing to knock the Yankees about so let them bitch and moan about attendance at what has become a meaningless september game because their team couldnt keep up and has now thrown up the white flag.

Now to something thats actually important:

Hideki Matsui (wrist) is expected to play for Double-A Trenton on Wednesday.

Matsui will likley play three or four games for Trenton before being activated from the disabled list. He took batting practice on Friday and impressed manager Joe Torre by hitting several opposite field home runs.

It sounds like he will be back next weekend. Its a good thing that Trenton made the playoffs.

Mike Mussina (groin) will be activated from the disabled list and start on Tuesday.

Mussina feels fine. He is safe to activate on all fantasy teams this week.

No whining just pointing out a fsact that the stadium was empty on Labor Day weekend game against a playoff contender, because idf a misting rain. That's pathetic. Fenway is filled on days like that when the temperature is hovering in the 40's. The difference is that Yankee fans are delicate little momma's boys.:thumbdown They could catch a cold.

Now it's down to 18.

The whole magic number thing is pretty silly. We traded 1 of our 2 consistent pitchers, and were out of it before that. No need to countdown.

Aw please its not the Yankee fans fault that your team put up the white flag. No reason to s*** on our parade.

I wasn't trying to s*** on your parade. Actually I thought I was adding to it. I'm saying that this is so over that you guys don't even need to countdown ... you won the division.

I picked him up for fantasy just in time for the playoffs. Hopefully he does wonders for my team in the playoffs

Don't get your hopes up too much. I wouldn't play him for at least the first week he's back. I picked up Derek Lee though and he's already hitting so I don't know.

Come on now, ATG. s***ing on your parade? You guys coming on a Sox board to gloat over your victory is taking a big steaming dump in our living room. I can tolerate it, but be real about it.

All I did was post the magic number. However s***ing on my parade may have been a poor choice of words and I know where you are coming from.

Hughes, who was on a strict 80-pitch or five-inning count during the regular season, will see that leash loosened to pitch 100 pitches or seven innings during the playoffs.

The Trenton Thunder won 3 - 1 tonight, to take a 1 - 0 lead in the series agains the Portland Sea Dogs. Philip Hughes pitched and received a no decision.

His line: 6IP, 5H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 13K (85 pitches)

Hideki Matsui, in his first rehab stint, went 1 for 3 with a walk, strikeout, and an RBI.

Damn right!

On another note, i'm surprised to see Leiter and Singleton doing this game together, especially after what happened last time they were on the same broadcast team. Haven't been any problems so far, which is cool.

What happened the last time?

Just wanted to ask Yankee fans something

Melky Cabrera has shown me and many others that he can be able to hold down a starting outfielder slot. Dont you think it would be best for him, and possibly his career, if he was moved to where he could get that full playing time he deserves while New York could get a nice package in return? Currently under contract for 07 are Matsui, Damon, Abreu, and Sheffield who's option is apparently set to be picked up

If Sheffield moves to first then Melky could be kept as the 4th outfielder. Bernie could stay on as a DH/PH and never see the outfield again, which would be fine by me.

This is actually a popular question, I was asking my dad what he thought about it the other day. He was of the ilk that didn't mind keeping Melky and trying to trade Matsui. I don't think that works, since Matsui is a soldier and the PR and marketing would go to hell in Japan. I say the 2007 team has Cabrera as the 4th outfielder and if Giambi permits, perhaps allow Matsui to DH more often.
