Yankees purchased the contract of outfielder Mitch Jones from Triple-A Columbus.

Jones, 28, will be making his major league debut after hitting .239/.352/.463 in 134 at-bats for Columbus. The Yankees could give him some starts in the outfield against left-handers, but right-handers are likely to handle him easily. It's doubtful that he'll have any fantasy value. May. 19 - 3:27 pm et

who the hell is this guy, i guess hes expected to start some games over the weekend.

Jeter is okay. Posada had back spasms and may not miss any time. Bernie is going to sit tomorrow as he strainged his ass. Farns is out for tomorrows game with a strained back. We are dropping like flies, and RJ aint helping out. Can anyone say Roger?

Farns and Bernie got injured tonight?

both minor, but bernie pulled up lame on a double and farns back stiffened up after his inning. That is why Mo was sent in without adequate warmups...

I just thank god it is May. I have no doubts that Mo will get squared away. I am just completely flabbergasted by RJ. He threw rather well against the A's sans inning , then he comes out here with rather good stuff and leaves it all down the middle. How do you walk Jose Reyes? God, this guy is a total enigma.

Tommorow's game is HUGE for the yankees so they don't lose 4 in a row (predicting that Glavine beats Small on Sunday)

I wouldnt make any prediction about glavine and small. The way the yankee games have gone, I wouldnt be surprised if we lose tomorrow and then win sunday. Here's the deal, we started getting hot when everyone was healthy, we start dropping like flies and now we are in trouble. If we get past our series in June no less than 5 games away from you guys, we'll have a good shot. I have to be realistic here, and watching the entire team be injured is frustrating...

He's old. C'mon, do they skip the effects of aging in Md School?

The real enigma is Pavano. He could get hurt taking a piss. Bad back, bruised buttocks, strained forearm, and bad elbow-- all before the end of May.

Damon's Avg.is down to .277 and the "Big Fly's" ERA is at 5.62 . Wow!

damn...

Kyle Farnsworth was limited to one inning on Friday night because of lower back soreness.

It's like the entire team has picked 2006 to get old. Farnsworth is likely day-to-day.

Bernie Williams won't start Saturday because of a tight buttocks muscle.

The Yankees might go with Kevin Reese in left field. Williams is day-to-day.

Yeah, it's a shame you guys are two games back.

I'm crying on the inside.

It's a part of the game. You guys will have your injuries too, as your pitching staff is old as well. Pavano and Beckett have similar injury histories, it is just that Pavano is hurt now and Beckett is healthy. He'll be on the DL at some point. Schilling also hasnt been shutdown either. It is a long season, we just need to survive this rough spot without falling like a stone...

I think the drop in humidity will reduce chances for blisters for Beckett greatly.

The Sox also found ways to control Derek Lowe's blisters, so I'm optimistic that they can limit Beckett's issues.

Good idea on the sub-forum. The rivalry does exist and 95% of non-Sox baseball talk is about them.

The injury-riddled Yankees plan to soon work out free agent Richard Hidalgo at their minor league complex in Tampa.

"Richard is definitely intrigued," said Hidalgo's representative Chris Leibel. Hidalgo was released by the Orioles in spring training after leaving the team to be with his ailing wife. Assuming that he's not inbaseball shape right now, Hidalgo would probably have to spend several weeks in the minors before becoming a possibility for the Yankees. He could end up as the club's primary left fielder at some point, but it's more likel that he'll fit in as a reserve. May. 20 - 12:41 pm et
