didnt you apply as well?

Have they gotten back to you at all?

I applied; never got a response.:thumbdown

It's actually probably for the best; I don't think I'd be able to spend all my time with the same 3 people for like 6 months.

Johnson, Mussina, Wang, Chacon, and ?. Who would be the 5th starter?

The Yankees are going to go without a 5th starter until they need one. Then it's a matter of who's ready. One name I keep hearing, in case guys like Pavano and Small aren't ready, is Erickson. And that guy who was pitching yesterday (Childers) could probably do the job against a subpar team.

Pavano's on the mound for the Yankees for the first time since last summer.

And on his first play he lunges at first to get an out....:o

...and then he gives up a HR.

ANybody who watched the game notice the new YES scoreboard? Appearantly YES has decided to switch from the Scoreboard box/diamond that they have in the top left hand corner in favor of the horizontal bar at the top of the screen that a lot of networks, most notably FOX is using now. I absolutely hate the bar...why John Fillipelli, why?

Good game today. FUn to watch. Unfortunately Matt Smith blew the 1 run lead in the 9th and we lost.

Very pleased with what we're breaking camp with.

Now off to Arizona for a 2 game exhibition set with the DBacks and then off to Oakland for the start of a long journey to number 27.

Agreed. I'm hoping they go back to what they had.

Doesnt look like it, used the same thing again today. This is the 4th different scoreboard thingy they have used since the station debuted in 2002.

First was the original (2002), second was the original but with a smaller YES logo (2003-2004), third was the one used last year, with more rounded edges (2005) and now the bar (2006).

Pick one and stay with it, Fillipelli.

I don't know what Scott Proctor did this winter, but all pitchers should be doing it.

lol

Lucky for him we suffered some injuries. If not he would be headed for Columbus due to the fact that the other 12 guys have guaranteed contracts and he still has an option year.

Proctor has just upped his trade stock immensely. I hope he can finally improve on his pathetic career and do with his stuff what he was always meant to do. I think moving him to starter would be great in a perfect world, but we already have a logjam there. I just hope this isnt him being good against crap, and hopefully this will translate against the beter players in the league...

Also, since there are free spots due to the injuries I wouldnt be surprised to see Wil Nieves make the team. He is out of options ans would have to be outrighted and clear waivers to remain in the organization. IDK what the odds of him doing that are, so I could see Torre and Cash keeping him on the big league roster until we need to send him down to make room for an injured player.

we should let him go. He has no prayer of sticking with the big club....

Did I call this one or did I absolutely call this one.

I've been HOTTTTT with my predictions last few months. :D Only thing I didnt do so hot with was the NCAA tourney, but hey, who did?

Anyways, the Yankees opening day roster looks like...

Starters

C- Jorge Posada

1B- Jason Giambi

2B- Robinson Cano

SS- Derek Jeter

3B- Alex Rodruguez

LF- Hideki Matsui

RF- Gary Sheffield

CF- Johnny Damon

Bench

IF- Andy Phillips

IF- Miguel Cairo

OF- Bubba Crosby

C- Kelly Stinnett

C- Wil Nieves

Starting Rotation

Randy Johnson

Mike Mussina

Chien-Ming Wang

Shawn Chacon

*Jaret Wright

Bullpen

Scott Proctor

Ron Villone

Mike Myers

Tanyon Sturtze

Kyle Farnsworth

(The Great) Mariano Rivera

*= Will start when a fifth starter is needed. So basically, Wright will split the duties as fifth starter and long reliever.

I have a great feeling about this year.

Anyone up for a betting pool:

When will Pavano actually start pitching this season?

per rotoworld

Carl Pavano, who already had been scheduled to begin the season on the disabled list because of a back injury, has been shut down because of his bruised left buttocks. An MRI on Thursday was negative, but "he's got some pain and he's going to be shut down until that pain disappears," manager Joe Torre said. If this means Pavano won't be ready to pitch on April 29, then Jaret Wright will make more than one start.

From Rotoworld:

Scott Proctor has gone home to be with his wife and their seriously ill infant daughter, GM Brian Cashman said.

Proctor will stay with his family as long as necessary, and no decision has been made on whether to replace him temporarily on the roster. If he needs to be placed on the DL or the bereavement list, Ramiro Mendoza could be a candidate to take his place.

It cracks me up that anyone still thinks pavano and Wright were good choices. pavano maybe. The Red Sox took a similar gamble on beckett. However, Wright has had 2 good seasons. Rookie and Mazzone. If the BRAVES drop a pitcher, you need to beware.

Glass Carl is the biggest wimp ever.

Like I said, it's more than likely this is just a case of the Yankees being overcautious to avoid a serious injury. Pavano wants to get out there and pitch.

You've made 6 posts and already I can't see that I'll hate you because of you got a smart mouth. So what if you want to pitch you can't thats why you arn't there. But seriously a butt bump?

yahoo! sports

The A's are waiting to finalize their roster until they have a better idea about the weather forecast for the opening week. With a chance of rain early next week, the A's might be forced to play a day-night doubleheader against the New York Yankees next Tuesday or Wednesday.

The A's season opener is scheduled for Monday against the Yankees, who make only one trip to Oakland all season.

"If we have a doubleheader one of the first two days we may need a 12th pitcher," Forst said.
