    3B was always likely going to be Mayer, with Arias taking over SS. Casas was always assumed to be the 1B, even after the injury.

    That's reminiscent of the Blaze and Montgomery trades. Chavis hit a HR in his 2nd game as a Pirate and some of the fans howled about trading away a future HOF. He had an incredible 42/1 K/W that year, and some fans just didn't want to see it.

    That matches up well with what I just said about Blaze. You have to give up guys to get guys. DD traded Ben Brown to get Robertson. Brown is starting to pitch well for the Cubs, so good for the Cubs. But I'd make that trade every day of the week. DD gave up Tait and Abel for Duran, and in another two years, it could be a disaster. But it was a trade DD needed to make. You don't get Robertson or Duran without giving up something that might hurt at some point. Same with Blaze, Harrison, and others.

    I think that was DD's strong suit, but not everyone gets a shot. Blaze, imho, looked like a guy that could be a marginal starter in MLB, but more likely a good sub. These are the guys you give up for a #5 SP. No one is giving up on Matz unless the prospect has at least some type of shot,

    We won it, and imho, we won it huge. That Mil also won is of no consequence to me. Hamilton is Hamilton (and I like him), and Harrison was never going to get a chance to start with us, and likely was going to be a BP piece.

    That'll fall on deaf ears. Breslow probably did exactly what 100% of all GMs do. The probably have a board of 30+ names on it. And every name comes with a 'what if'. Once they found Contreras at a reasonable price, their interest (and price) in Alonso goes down. Same as Bregman and Durbin. The price tag for Bregman has to be affected by the price tag Durbin. That's the same as if one of us was looking at a car or a house. If you find a nice house down the block, you won't pay double that amount for a slightly nicer house a block over.

    The 'here and now' thingy appears to be extremely flexible. I do not have the foggiest idea, whatsoever, why people cannot admit that Durbin looks exactly like the 2.7 bWAR player we traded for. It is not like he is the only player that doesn't have hot and cold streaks.

    There will always be someone out there having a good week, then getting a lot of 'what ifs', and then settling into a run of mediocrity. i actually have my Statcast set to call up Yorke, because someone was singing his praises.

    But if had stayed at Fenway, he **might** have had a .900 OPS and 30 SBs. And I am might be the only guy holding on by my fingernails, but i think still think he'd be a good addition for us. It just gets more expensive for Posey to undo that trade, like every day.

    I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, and maybe there was a language issue, but I got the feeling Devers was just trying to say he was okay to run. There had been an issue with his leg.

    Duran should be the automatic lead-off hitter. i don't see anyone being close.

    He won't get fired. The biggest problems we have, by far, is with the players that were on the team in 2025 (Narvaez, Story, Anthony, Crochet & Bello).

    Unless you are talking about a team icon like Papi, Yaz, etc., then no one is off-limits. I love watching Ranger pitch, but it never hurts to listen.

    That was always going to be the problem with acquiring a DH. Replacing a Duran or an Anthony for a $30M player, was never going to make sense in the off-season.

    The issue wasn't the acquisitions. Breslow had a great off-season. The issue was the guys that we carried over from 2025. Narvaez .553 Story .547 & IL Anthony .675 & IL Crochet 6.30 & IL Bello 6.34 & AAA And since nobody suggested that we replace those 5 guys, nothing was going to change.

    Monasterio should've challenged that one. It's the 9th inning, and you have two challenges left. There is no sense in saving them.

    I'm not even usually a fan of the sacrifice, but with a 5-1 lead, you have to play for one run, especially that late in the game. And Seigler has a career .533 OPS. You have Yoshida, with at least a L/R advantage, and then your two best hitters. If you are not sacrificing in that situation, you are never going to sacrifice.

    1st and 2nd, no outs, Seigler up, and Yoshida, Abreu and Contreras coming up, a sacrifice should be automatic.

    Someone should tell Narvaez not to walk away from HP until after the umpire makes his call. The umpire had not yet made the call when Narvaez started walking away. The ump never going to call it a ball at that point. And while a small piece of the pitch might have caught the strike zone, it is entirely possible that the catcher might not choose to challenge.

    It was BA, BP, MLB & Fangraphs that were heavily promoting those kids as the Big Three.

    Dumbest idea ever. Depriving bad teams of the best draft picks will simply ensure they continue to be bad teams.

    It could be, but Adell shouldn't be expensive and we'd have him for one more year.
