    That reminds me of the 2003 ALCS. It wasn't even not removing Pedro that irked me so much, as the fact that Embree, Timlin, Williamson and Arroyo had been lights-out in the playoffs.

    And, of course, he has to want to do it. A week ago, I wanted at least one bat. 3 days ago, I was okay with getting rid of anyone and everyone. Breslow & Henry are probably going thru the same indecisions. Even today, if we win, I want a bat. If we lose, I'm probably back in trade mode.

    But it's not a real save situation, since there was virtually no chance of a save. Even worse is Kelly & Moran. They had -0- chance of them getting a save, so there was -0- chance of them blowing a save.

    The BS is one of the worst stats in BB. Kelly got a blown same because he failed to hold a lead in the 4th inning. 2 of the blown saves were in a game where the pitch allowed -0- ERs.

    Watson -0- Weissert (2) 6th and 7th innings Whitlock (1) 6th Coulombe (1) 7th Moran (1) 5-7th Sammy -0- Slaten (1) 7th Kelly (1) 4-5th Guerrero -0- None of these are blown saves, since none of them were in a save position.

    It should be Duran leading off.

    If it is helpful, the RS are ranked #29 in 1st inning OBP and 30th in 1st inning runs scored. Duran should be leading off. Not because he is ideal, but because no one else can.

    Real saves, or the type where a pitcher comes in in the 7th with the bases loaded, no outs, and he allows one run, and gets a blown save?

    Francona was a good hitter when he came up, just no power.

    RS fans need to get use to the idea of hot streaks and cold streaks. It happens to everyone.

    There was nothing wrong whatsoever, with the OF/DH setup. I hoped Masa would do better, but there was obviously no guarantee. The only change I'd have made would've been a trade for a RH version of Masa.

    IMO, definitely faster now. No more batters stepping out to roll their eyes. No more catchers framing the pitch for two seconds. No more arguments. Not only is it quick, I find it pretty entertaining to see who is right.

    I seriously doubt Breslow is going anywhere. No one is going to like to hear it, but his off-season was almost impeccable. He added Gray, Contreras, Suarez, Durbin, and Bennett. It doesn't get any better than that. The only value-added move he could've made, as unlikely as it would have been, would've been to sign Schwarber.

    Some nice contributions by Bennett as well. A 3.71 overall, and a 14/0 K/W in his last two starts.

    I have an interesting stat, but no idea what it means. The RS have the 3rd best BP ERA with a 3.25, but the BP record is 6-17. The #2 and #4 teams are SD and NYY, with records of 20-12 and 19-10. I'm curious how our BP ERA could be that good, but our record that bad.

    5-12 in one-run games. 7-14 in 2-run games.

    Our rotation is 2nd in ERA over the past 28 days. No Crochet, no Bello, no problem.

    Just for fun, HS Kim is 5-65 with no XBH this year.

    Swanson had a .426 OPS for a 124-AB stretch. And 4 HRs, 4 SBs, and 18 RBIs in his last 7 games. Chapman went from ice-cold, to red-hot, to a 2-28 stretch. I think this is more the rule than the exception in baseball.

    Durbin had a particularly rough start, but plenty of players have rough stretches. I think Raleigh had a 0-38 stretch at one point. Lots of guys alternate between MVP stats and AAA stats, and often more than once a season.

    Early in the off-season, I was in favor of trading Duran. After the Gray and Suarez acquisitions, keeping Duran's offense, even as a DH, seemed like a good idea. I wasn't down on Yoshida, but there was a pretty good chance that Abreu would outplay him, as well as supplying some rotational rest in the OF, and being insurance for an injury. The plan was good, but didn't anticipate Anthony getting hurt, and neither Yoshida nor Duran hitting anything.
