  1. Same as in real life. I am usually a collaborative type of guy. But sometimes a yes/no is a better answer than 'what do you think?'. Like I said, I understand Devers position, even if I would've just grabbed the 1B mitt. But that doesn't mean that Breslow made a bad call.
  2. 1-No one, including you, thought that we should trade Duran straight up for Paredes. I believe that you also want King or Abreu, plus their minor league catcher. 2-And my understanding is that they wanted Abreu instead of Duran.
  3. It is not the player. It is the idea that someone will make a definitive call on someone after two ST ABs. That's just trolling.
  4. I don't quite believe that. We've done well, but that could also be a small sample size.
  5. Williams is too erratic. We don't need the pitching version of Duran. Peralta should be better than he is showing. Bichette will likely should revert back a little, but he still has a 27/3 K/W this month. And if he doesn't revert, then we are stuck with a very bad contract the next two years.
  6. No, but it's the type of deal which would push me into sell mode. But not happening. Tolle maybe.
  7. 1-I don't think we know what Duran is worth. Players go up and down all the time. 2-How many people predicted the season he is having? 3-Even if people were inclined to write off Duran completely, he'd still be having a great off-season. Every team in BB has a player that is under-performing. They don't get fired for it.
  8. Over the last three tracking periods by B-Ref: Over the past 28 days, our OPS ranked #23. Over the past 14 days, our OPS ranked #18. Over the past 7 days, our OPS ranked #7. Small sample sizes, and I think we need a bat, but directionally positive. And Cavalli is tough.
  9. A bad record is fair game for everyone, but I prefer some intellect to the comments. Arguing for or against Duran/Paredes is interesting. Dismissing Ceddanne after two spring training ABs is someone begging to not be taken seriously.
  10. I can't keep up with school terminology. I asked someone that teaches in special ed, and even they didn't know what this year's words are. And it'll change next year anyway.
  11. Most of my posts have been about adding a hitter, and with good reason. But I think we also need an RP. Getting Weaver from the NYM would be a good add.
  12. Colorado doesn't usually trade anyone, even when it makes 100% sense to trade them. I doubt he is going anywhere. And would probably cost more than we can afford.
  13. Just speculating, but Adames' old form is about a 110 OPS+ with about 30 HRs. Since the start of May, he has a .773 OPS with 11 HRs in 199 ABs. I'd argue that he has already returned to his old form. I also think that Oracle is suppressing his numbers. IMO, the backloading of his contract is an issue, and that SF has to pay for that, as well as pay for some of his age 34 & 35 seasons. But I have little doubt about his current performance. IRT CJ, I don't think the Nats would trade him. They are finally contenders for the first time in a while.
  14. One of the B-Ref stats I like is the sOPS+, which shows our OPS relative to the rest of the league. C 92 1B 127 2B 78 SS 72 3B 101 LF 79 CF 107 RF 115 DH 71 Catcher was better than I thought. 2B maybe improves with Romy, despite his career-ending 0-4. IKF is playing over his head, but should be an improvement as SS when he returns. Having a weakness at both LF and DH argues in favor of adding a DH. Even if Duran returns to form, we'd still need a DH, and I don't think we should count on RA.
  15. Exclude Bello's one start, and I believe our starting 5 has an ERA under 3.00 in the past 28 days.
  16. You don't know if was a refusal to move him, or if no one offered a fair deal. The idea that he didn't recognize that Duran was not a 7 WAR player is pretty far afield. Do you know why? It's because there are almost no 7 WAR players. 3 players in the past three years have averaged 7 fWAR. There is an odd idea, among a lot of fans, that other GMs look at an fWAR score and decide that's what a player is worth. I'm about 99.9% sure that no one thinks like that, outside of rotisserie, and not usually even then. My guess is that most GMs thought of him as a 3.5 WAR LF. Then there is the matter of kind of needing him. One can easily make the argument that he was going to be a better DH than Yoshida.
  17. Nice article. I'll need to re-read it when I've had enough coffee to understand it.
  18. I seen good RS rotations before, but generally top-heavy, which is fine. I don't remember seeing a rotation going 5-deep with this consistency.
  19. #4 in the AL in run differential. We just have to keep winning.
  20. Abreu is one of the best fielders in baseball. Complain all you want, but I can read the numbers and watch the player.
  21. I guess so. I love having him at $13M, so it just feels like a big plus for the RS.
  22. It's hard to believe that we could be doing so well without either Crochet or Bello. It's been so good that we don't even get to use Crochet's injury as an excuse.
  23. RS winning causes him much angst. He was near catatonic in 2007.
  24. I have Fred on ignore. It makes the site far better, at least for me.
