    No chance I'd do it. I like Morejon, but he is not elite and is a 2-month rental. I think Mayer will fetch someone quite a bit better.

    Agreed. The Mets aren't rebuilding. I doubt that they trade Lindor, but that's possible. But they have no reason to move Soto.

    Of course, the in-depth analysis of his off-season moves had as much impact as an analysis of Py W/L.

    I think it is fairly obvious that a good record beats a bad record, but thank you for bringing that to the court's attention. But if you want to determine how well a team is playing Py W/L is a better descriptor than record. I could show you some numbers, but I doubt you'd look at them.

    I think we have be. We have the 3rd best record in the AL, and 7 games better than TB over the past 30 games. Best record is probably a bit of a stretch, but without Judge and Bellinger, and only 3 back in the loss column, we have a shot at 2nd best record. Things can easily go sideways, but we have a shot.

    Story is also hurt, if you wanted to generously include him.

    I feel the same way. My brain has certain ideas, but my heart says that these kids are building an identity that you can't analyze on FG.

    If I am trading Duran, I want a very reliable LF (Springer/Adell). If I'm supplementing Duran, then I am will to make a low-cost gamble.

    I don't think so. Assuming we keep Arias, then our 2027 IF is Mead, Arias, and Durbin, and that assumes we get rid of Story and keep Monasterio is the UIF role.

    I also wondered about that. I posted many, many times that the 25/26 off-seasons acquisitions were doing great, but it was hard to reconcile that with the fact that we had a decent+ team in 2025. Who'd have believed that Monasterio, Seigler, etc., would be such a big upgrade over Story & Mayer. I'm not bashing them, but when you already have a light-hitting catching tandem, you can't have two other holes in your lineup.

    The fun part is that I don't really see numbers that are unsustainable. Monasterio is high, and Contreras & Ceddanne are a little high, but Abreu is a little bit low. We're #5 in OPS in July, and I don't think that can be maintained, but I think we should still remain marginally above average going forward.

    This is just borderline insane. Even for those of us that believed. What a game by Bello. Now we have almost our entire BP available for the next two games.

    Sure, but if our 2027 Plan A (Red will let us know what that is) is to add an SP, then the 2027 anticipated cost must be deducted from the 2026 cost, to see what the marginal cost is. Gray was a fine trade, but still cost us 3 mediocre+ prospects.

    For me, the beauty of the trade was that neither Harrison nor Drohan had a defined role. Both were going to be in the BP or in AAA. I always liked Hamilton, but he is mostly just a good UIF. Except for when he had a good game in Boston and the pitiful RS writers wanted to know why guys like Hamilton could become stars for teams like Mil.

    So no more annual Devers debates? And most of the bickering, imho, is about fans using really small samples sizes for opinions. I'd make a substantial wager that there have been calls to get rid of at least half the team. IRT trades, I love to hear different opinions. If I had one minor critique, we have a lot of posts about players that will almost certainly not be available.

    OTOH, we might also want someone that will replace Gray next year.

    It remains our weakest batting order slot. The 9 slots relative to MLB: Split sOPS+ Batting 1st 75 Batting 2nd 80 Batting 3rd 93 Batting 4th 123 Batting 5th 105 Batting 6th 107 Batting 7th 101 Batting 8th 104 Batting 9th 97 I know we are 29th in OBP at the 1-hole. I don't like messing with our mojo right now, but I'd guess half the team is feeling antsy with Duran around, and Springer has spent almost his entire career leading off.

    The 600 AB projections total to 10.7 bWAR. Seigler is the lowest at 2.65. It's the type of production that enables us to spend some big money on FAs and more expensive trade targets.

    I wouldn't worry about 2nd or SS. Monasterio, Seigler, Story, IKF, Romy, Sogard-Not great, but there is some production there.
