  1. Would Carlos Santana work for us? He may not be a power hitter per se. But his on base is consistently over .350.
  2. A lot of people think Cobb has declining peripherals and would be a bad investment. However he did spank our zombies around at will this year.
  3. Everything that has been said and written about him. And while votto may not want to leave Cincy, the fact remains, he is a competitor, a warrior. Winning is important to him, we offer him that chance and his position is a position of need, All that being said however, we do not have the prospect capital to make this happen. So we need a veteran who can come into our fractured clubhouse and command respect from day one and has some power and plays a position of need,
  4. The single biggest need in the Red Sox for next year is a veteran leader! An experienced veteran to hold the other players in the locker room accountable, someone to focus them, someone to motivate them to want to win, someone to teach them how to bring the intensity while avoiding distractions and most of all someone to provide leadership! This past season was a pathetic display of numbness and distraction by our hitters, Now I understand that pedroia fractured the clubhouse and caused irreversible tension and distraction in the room that lingered throughout the year. The fact that we lacked a veteran leader that could bring everybody together and discuss it and move the team past it was very sad and totally avoidable. The best clubhouse leader in all of baseball is Votto. But I do not know if we want to spend the prospect capital to acquire him. Stanton is not the guy, So time to look for plan b.
  5. Cora is the kind of hire that could motivate our hitters to actually play hard and not be zombies, No idea if Cora can handle a pitching staff or bullpen, but hopefully he has a Great bench coach to help him, At the end of the day, Cora will probably save desperate dave from the axe.
  6. I believe Farrell said price has a tear in his pitching elbow. Unless he is hitting stem cells injections, there is no way he can make 30 starts next season, Ps: I realize Tanaka also has something torn in his arm but still made his starts this season. No idea how he does it or how significant his tear is.
  7. I really wonder what swihart is now after two injury plagued seasons. Three years ago, he was on my untouchable list. Had a beautiful swing and made lots of hard contact. Now he is probably a double a player stuck in triple a.
  8. The six man rotation works if you go with 13 pitchers and have at least two holt’s on the bench. I would instead propose that we go to a 13 pitcher squad, but every other cycle the Long reliever gets a start starting June 1st, and we stay on rotation even when we have a day off. It is so important to get these pitchers locked in and focused on throwing strikes and secondary pitches through the first couple of months of the season. I think we do not give our starters enough innings in spring training and they come out rusty to start each season.
  9. I expect the Yankees to go hard after talent this offseason by either trade or free agency.
  10. Does Leon work better with Rodriguez?
  11. Who is the worst 3rd base coach butterfield or way them in Kim?
  12. Seems like desperate dave was locked on him from day one, He needs to make sure this works.
  13. Groome has some incredible stuff. His curveball has a chance to be Kershaw like. Can he put it all together next season? Hard to say. But if he does we have s future #1 starter on our hands. Ps: our record of developing together by pitchers is not what I would describe as spectacular!
  14. If Rodriguez is going to miss the beginning of the season and price's elbow is hanging on by a thread, then desperate dave should look for two starters this offseason. In my mind, we need to sign free agents ohtani and Alex Cobb!
  15. I thought it was "Fran-in-a-coma"!
  16. Wasn't yaz the same height? He did ok at first if I remember correctly, but I was very young back then.
  17. Nobody on this board has bashed desperate dave like I have, but even I have to admit desperate dave did the right thing by going all in on sale. And if everyone is honest, we all knew sale had a tendency to wear down in the second half of seasons. Out of devers, Moncada and benintendi, desperate dave was smart to part with Moncada. So I give him props for that as well. Now he needs to put that same focus squarely on signing ohtani.
  18. If Nunez had a torn pcl, he will need surgery and at least a six month recovery period.
  19. Whoever we sign or marrero or Lin.
  20. I've torn my acl, mcl and pcl as well as the patella tendon previously, but not the ligament that Rodriguez just had fixed. Six months seems like a short recovery period. I would think nine months is a better figure,
  21. What injury could he have that can't be cured by surgery?
  22. moving bogey to second base is an excellent idea. If pedroia has the surgery, he will probably miss the first part of the season. If pedroia does not have the surgery, then he will be injured and miss the last 5 months of the season. Being able to move bogey over could be the best position for him and our pitchers will benefit from not having him at short.
  23. Ohtani!!!! Desperate dave needs to sign him. He is the real deal and the perfect fit for us.
  24. In 2018, pedroia is going to try to come back. By the end of may, he will be injured. Nunez looks to have a torn pcl. That means surgery, not sure he makes sense. Marco missed the year. Holt was concussed and then played like he still was all year. Neither walker nor Kendrick seem like fits. Maybe we sign cozart and move him to second.
  25. For clarification purposes only: Yes, I think desperate dave should be kicked to the curb before he can do anymore damage. I wanted to keep Farrell. I thought he did a decent job. I want pedroia to get his knee operated on and come back healthy next season or in 2019. I am sick of watching him trying to play through injuries instead of going to the dl. As a sunsetter, he had to learn that when he is not 100 percent, he is JAG. I am ok with bogey staying. But someone has to light a fire under all our young non catching hitters and get them to realize the goal of sports is to win! None of our young non catching hitters have a fire to compete. They don't care about winning and that can not be tolerated. No more zombies!!! As for Hanley, same as pedroia. Finally chilli. As a hitting coach, he is JAG.
