  1. Bowden says Sox offered groome and a player off the roster for Manny. If that player is bogey, then I think Baltimore should have jumped on that trade. If that player is a pitcher, then I see why Baltimore passed. My question is.... has dave decided the bradley’s and bogey’s of our team have plateaued and is he trying to upgrade them with JD and manny?
  2. I expect that is is what we are seeing in basketball now. Add in cable on the verge of collapse once “ala cart” becomes reality, half the league could dissolve! Football appears next in line for a correction that will bring a world of hurt to players and owners alike. It could get ugly out there!
  3. Darvish had a tell that Houston picked up on. Hard to have any success when you are tipping pitches like that!
  4. I expect there to be at least four teams in on JD. And I remain positive Boras is using us as bait.
  5. I saw an article on this on nbc sports Boston. Seems Manny wants to play short next year. Dave would be foolish to do this deal without getting an extension first. Some reporters have speculated bogey, Rodriguez, groome and chavis would get the deal done.
  6. Lefty reliever Watson is still available to sign!
  7. If dave could find a sucker to take hanley off our hands, I am confident he would pull the trigger on JD very quickly! However since no sucker exists, can we please pass on JD and sign a quality starter and reliever?
  8. So-so is three floors up from where bogey resides.
  9. I am thinking Vargas. We go into spring trainIng with six starters and see if everybody is still healthy by opening day. It is easier to trade a starter than acquire one.
  10. In golf they have a saying, “hit and hope”. Please tell me you are not advocating that flawed strategy with our starters for 2018? We got our lightening in a bottle in 2013. That is never going to happen again. Competition and depth are proven strategies! Since dave has been extremely pernicious with our farm system, we must go the free agent route for more pitching!
  11. If January is the new December, I guess we should see dave start to saddle up here soon.
  12. Then why are the Yankees reportedly after cole?
  13. You could buy a puppy!
  14. I am glad you have faith in dave! I believe that nothing that has happened this offseason, ohtani, Stanton or other free agent signings has been anything he could have changed and most importantly I do not think he wanted to change, I think we are all panicking more than he is over the Stanton signing, Where my brain damage comes in is that dave’s options for making is a better team in 2018, which should be his ultimate goal are shrinking and he may get desperate and do something foolish!
  15. In my mind, whichever team ( us or the Yankees) adds more pitching between now and April will be the team to beat next year!
  16. Playing the hope and pray game is a fools gambit! Why not sign another starter and have more depth, just in case. Because last season we sure could have used it!
  17. Let me clarify. Our pitching staff is very good! But counting on them being 100 percent healthy through the entire year is extremely foolish. We need depth. We need another starter signed!
  18. And I would love to win the lottery. Chances are way better that price’s elbow goes pop in spring training and sale runs out of gas again in August! (He is a skinny dude with a bony arm!) Moreland is what he is, which is overpaid, but if he stays healthy, he should put up better numbers than last year.
  19. 1.) Price’s elbow (last we saw) has a tear in it. That thing is a pop away from costing him 18 plus months. 2.) Rodriguez is going to miss the start of the season due to knee surgery! 3.) porcello has a sinker that does not sink and gave up a ton of taters! Can we continue to roll out a 5 plus era every fifth day next year? 4.) sale is one skinny dude! Can his bony arm continue to pitch 200 plus innings and have anything left in the tank for the playoffs! If last year was as any indication, the answer is no! 5.) is Pomeranz a one year wonder. ( see porcello) How does his elbow, which was barking a while back, hold up next year! 6.) Wright is probably facing a 30 game suspension and has not pitched worth a crap in over a year! 7.) Johnson is probably better suited for the pen! 8.) Elias would look good in a reds uniform. 9.) Velasquez - I expect a year two leap from him. He could be our unsung hero by November 2018. So in summary, I would welcome another starter in a heartbeat in this team. I like Vargas! Let spring training sort it out and if everything comes up roses, we can very easily move a starter before the start of the 2018 season and replenish Death Valley, aka our farm system!
  20. If we do not sign anybody, then Velazquez, beeks and Johnson duke it out for the fifth spot. I am putting my money on Velazquez, but deep down we need to sign Vargas!
  21. Why play the games, when we can all just read fangraphs! We won 93 games last year with this lineup. We lost several games we should have won because we ran out of pitching due to injuries. Seems like a no brainer. We need pitching!
  22. Unless it comes out differently, I will always believe Ben signed the cheap guys that won a World Series in 2013. He caught lightening in a bottle. He rode his winning streak into 2014 and we collapsed. Then Larry stepped in and became the puppet master. Now we are stuck with Hanley and sandoval’s Contracts thanks to Larry.
  23. Don’t the Sox have insurance on guys like price? Hopefully the insurance company is picking up the tab on price’s shredded elbow!
  24. Clearly those two months Moreland played through the broken toe damaged his stats line! I’m still calling him a steal!
  25. Hasn’t Moreland hit 20 taters per season for the past couple of years? If we need more power, we isn’t everyone looking at bogey? Plus we will have devers for a full season. At the end of the day, we have a decent lineup capable of scoring, but we need more pitching!
