  1. If I were the giants I would immediately reduce the package I was offering Miami. If I were the Dodgers I would offer Miami a bag of used baseballs and a couple broken bats for Stanton, If jeter wants out of that contract teams on the west coast need to make it painful!
  2. Bradley missed a lot of his final year in college after getting hit on the wrist by a pitch. His hole in his swing was a fear of any inside pitches. It took him until last year to finally get over that fear. 2017 appeared to be a return of that fear.
  3. I have to wonder if the major leagues is the best place for a 3rd baseman with defensive development issues. I have to think our pitchers are not all that overjoyed by it as well!!!!
  4. if Stanton goes to the angels, they suddenly become a very scary team!
  5. So desperate dave predicted that a 20 year old starting the year in double a was going to to make it to Boston and contribute to our team by August? Clearly I need to contact desperate dave so he can give me the winning power ball numbers for th next drawing.
  6. Except for Fisk, no catcher has handled a pitching staff as well as varitek. Pitchers loved throwing to him and didn’t he catch something like 5 no hitters? Except for Fisk, no catcher in our history can compare to him! He was a perfect fit for our organization . And guess what, we got him in a trade and we did not overpay! Hint hint to desperate dave!!!!
  7. Does he see more personal opportunity in new York than in Boston?
  8. Congrats to the angels. This is a huge win for them, But they still have a ton of holes in their roster.
  9. So dombrowski’s grand plan was to rely on two prospects that he rushed through the minor leagues? Isn’t that the definition of desperation!!!! Is desperate dave’s Plan to have a collection of 25 good players or is his plan to build an organization with chemistry and depth!
  10. Desperate dave did not follow that strategy with Kimbrel, Thornburg or smith! Why would he start now,
  11. I would argue that between sandavol, Hernandez, holt and marrero we had a lot of bodies, and a whole lot of hope and pray and what if’s as far a actual players go.
  12. Wasn’t hannigan catching a knuckleballer?
  13. Amen my brother! More pitching is the goal. We have very little depth and as of today having to hope a knuckleballer coming off surgery can step right in and produce from day one! Desperate dave must learn the value of depth!!! The hitting will bounce back with our existing crew if the walking wounded ever heal up and stay relatively healthy next year. Another reason desperate dave needs to learn the concept of depth. I know hindsight is 20/20 but putting your third base eggs in sandavol’s basket with Hernandez, holt and marrero as backups was beyond moronic. Ps: Santana needs to be off our list as he received a qo from the Guardians.
  14. Latest reports have abreu staying in Chicago. So we have Martinez and hosmer As possible desperate Dave targets. One thing that seems odd, does desperate dave have any desire to lock up any of the youngsters to long term deals this winter? Maybe given the fact that we got roasted by the stupid long term deal we gave the eternally injured banana boy Pedroia, management might be loath to do another deal.
  15. Sort of. I think he is all upside and will kill right handed pitching. Trying to catch lightening in a bottle.
  16. 2018 - a realistic view of porcello. 2016 Leon handled him beautifully and the sinker has life and movement. The four seamer is high, difficult to hit and gives hitters fits. Important note: a lot of innings pitched in 2016. 2017 Leon does not want Bruce the same success as the year before, but still handles him better than Vazquez. The sinker loses it’s life and movement, causing porcello to give up a ton of meatballs. The four seamer is unpredictable and hitters lay off it waiting for a meatball. He seemed to really struggle early in the year and get better toward the end of the year. Did all the innings from 2016 leave him with a dead arm from April to August? So my question is: what is a realistic view for 2018 for porcello? What should we expect.
  17. Vazquez had 11 passed balls last year. 4th most in 2017. Not what I was expecting from him.
  18. I find it very interesting that out of the five or six guys at the bottom of the 40 man roster, desperate dave waived Owens. But regardless, we now have a spot open and it looks like we are signing or trading for someone soon. Martinez, abreu, hosmer???? My personal favorite is Adams.
  19. Did Texas just sign lhrp minor to a deal?
  20. Not signing ohtani is probably desperate dave’s Biggest failure to date. I swear desperate dave could not get laid in a women's Prison even if he had a hand full of get out of jail free cards on him.
  21. This makes perfect sense. But didn’t porcello pitch better with Leon behind the dish the year he won the cy young?
  22. Stats say Adams mashes right handed pitching and Travis singles to death left handed pitching. Sounds like a very good platoon situation!
  23. Well that hurt! Desperate dave needs to quit spending all day looking at pictures of verlander’s squeeze and get to work! To bad all those bright youngsters bolted the organization a couple years ago because desperate Dave needs a lot of help right about now! The first tool in the desperate dave toolbox is to overspend after periods of inactivity, in order to convince the weak minded that he knows what he is doing.
  24. If we had hung on to Margot, would we have needed to rush benintendi to the majors? If we had hung into Shaw, would we have needed to rush devers to the majors? Desperate dave has a problem figuring out how to build a team properly so it has adequate front line players and adequate depth. We need to abandon the fruitless search for an ultra expense big bat and build sensibly with necessary depth. That means an affordable first baseman with some power and upside (Adams), another mid level starter, and two relievers.
  25. I am devastated that we missed out on ohtani. That hurts! I think we need more pitching and sign Matt Adams to play first base for us, I think Adams swing is custom made for Fenway. Between price’s elbow and rodriguez’s Knee, we need more pitching, starting pitching. There are some decent arms available, desperate dave needs to go get another stud starter and a couple relievers.
