If you want staton then young pitching will have to be in the equation. That means Rodriguez, groome, matta to start with. I am not prepared to go there for staton.

I am not mad about the trade, I see why desperate dave made the trade. We needed an 8th inning guy and Thornburg'a stats said he could be that guy. Where I get frustrated with dave about this trade is: 1.) thornburg had a history that says the arm could go at any moment. You would think after being burned by smith, he would have learned his lesson. But no! 2.) dave knew moncada was going to be part of the sale trade. Why include Shaw? Did he really feel pablo was going to bounce back? Or did he have total confidence that Marco was going to have a breakout year? 3.) he overpaid. Did he really fall so in love with Thornburg that he could not have walked away from the table and moved on? Hopefully dave pursues ohtani with the same balls out aggressiveness that he pursued smith, Kimbrel and Thornburg!!!

Desperate dave needs to put his energy into signing ohtani! Ps: I would say desperate dave should get one of the whiz kids in the operations department to look into this, but then I remembered he ran them all off last offseason and all have left in there are Fred flintstone, Barney rubble and mr. Maggoo. -
It would be nice if we get Nunez healthy. Pedroia is burnt toast out there and a detriment to the team.

Pitching, defense and timing hitting are the keys to a championship. The hitting is what is driving every body crazy this year. It is so unpredictable, Take today's game. We have 1 run through 7 innings and our offense looks terrible, then explode for 4 runs in the 8th.

Pablo has some serious timing issues at the plate. With some confidence and improved timing, he should be a decent bat.

We have to really consider whether or not pedroia should be on the Post season roster. He is a one legged gimp and slumping badly. It would be nice if Nunez was back healthy.

The biggest problem with the slumps is our guys are flawed hitters. Most can't hit the low outside slider, yet none can lay off it. Another problem is almost all are nicked up. Broken toes, hurt knees, sore hands, thumbs and wrists. Just a ton of injuries that affect timing.

Plan A, the one and really only offseason priority is for desperate dave to go balls out for Ohtani. If he has had to pimp out verlander's squeeze to get this done, then get the pimping done! If he has to donate a kidney or give a quart of blood to an ohtani family member, then do it. Plan b, if dave bungles plan a, is to sign Cobb. I really think he is on the verge of a break out campaign, especially if he gets out of Tampa. Plan c, sign/trade for a replacement for Moreland, use porcello and Hanley as trade bait! Plan d, sign/trade for a replacement for young. Ohtani, sale, Pomeranz, price, Rodriguez. With Wright, Johnson and Velazquez in Pawtucket! Wow, rotation set!

Our offense is power deficient and it is very difficult in the major leagues to get three hits an inning to score a run! Add in a host of minor/semi major injuries to almost all our hitters and you have a recipe for less runs than last year. Single biggest problem is lack of a veteran leader. Pedroia is not that kind of guy. Hanley is definitely not that guy. Neither betts or Bradley or bogey have stepped up. Benintendi and devers are rookies. Neither Vazquez nor Leon appear to have any varitek in them. The ultimate locker room leader is votto,but he plays in the other dugout!

Porcello throws more meatballs than anybody I have ever seen. Only a few are turned into taters, the rest leave batters wondering how they missed the meatball.

The Pomeranz deal was a huge overpay. I do not know what injury he had when he came over last year, but I am 100 percent sure he was injured at the time of the trade. I know in hindsight Espinosa blew out his elbow so the deal looks good now as well as next year, provided Pomeranz continues to throw well. In my mind, dave over paid in the Kimbrel trade and that set the stage for overpay expectations from every GM from that day toward. And for some reason, maybe due to desperation, dave has been biting the pillow on every trade since he got here. Sadly for us dave has taken to pillow biting like a duck to water!

Is this the first pennant race sale has ever had a legitimate chance to be part of? If so, he must be jacked and having the time of his professional life!

By the end of the year, we will have pitched the most regular season innings in our history. You don't make the playoffs under those circumstances unless your bullpen is solid!

I was at a fund raiser for the museum of natural history the other night and I could not believe how much the mummy they have there looks like Sox owner John Henry. Really creepy! -
Sale has been everything we could ever dream of and more. Think of how many wins our zombies on offense cost him earlier in the year!!!! Ps: otani will be everything sale is, and more. Desperate dave needs to move heaven and earth to sign this kid in the offseason.
