  1. When Theo was hired, I really felt he had a vision or a plan to get us a championship and build a perennial championship calibre team. Theo fought with and prevailed against a meddling Larry and delivered for us. One bad ending to a season, ending with a boatload of fried chicken and beer and Theo and Fran are off the property. Larry brought in valentine and he had a puppet GM installed by the name of Ben, Did anybody really think that valentine would work? So then Larry jettisoned valentine and brought in Farrell. Simultaneously, Ben won the lottery on low/medium cost veteran free agents. However Ben and Larry tried to play their hand an extra season and that did not end well, Ben then started to rebuild the correct way, but the slow way, by restocking the farm. Larry brought in Hanley and the clown panda. So finally Henry has it with Larry and boots him. I give Henry high marks for making that decision. But then, desperate dave becomes available and Henry loses his mind and brings him in to run the baseball operations department. The result is Ben jumps ship. That offseason most of the best and brightest in the baseball operations department also jump ship in order to get as far away from desperate dave as possible. They recognize that desperate dave is a fireman with no medium to long distance plan and little to no regard for the value of a farm system. So here we sit. A flawed team, with key physically broken down veterans, with no power and underperformers littered across the roster. We, as fans, have almost universally acknowledged that we need power, a 1st baseman, a reserve outfielder and a lefty reliever. We have an expensive roster and less than preferred spending room to fill these holes and because of desperate dave, a mostly barren farm system. Yes, we have won two consecutive al east crowns, but done next to nothing for two October's in a row! So I ask again, does anybody feel this joke of a GM can build us a perennial championship calibre team???
  2. We may need to think outside the box for a power hitter. I still think the Yankees go hard after JD. I can not see the White Sox sending us Abreu. I can not see us signing hosmer. Even if we sign Santana, the guy is an on base machine not a power hitter. Would Seattle be willing to trade Cruz to us? Can Hanley handle first base next season with his rebuilt shoulder? Or would Atlanta be open to moving Adams? Or do we try and sign Duda?
  3. Everybody seems dead set against it, but I am hopeful chavis is our second baseman next season. Betts Bogey Benintendi JD Martinez Hanley Devers Chavis Vazquez Bradley
  4. So what are you proposing? MLB set up a matrix of defensive stats and whoever has the best cumulative score on those stats is the gold glove winner?
  5. I did not have a problem with the Hanley signing. But I did think sending him to the outfield was a joke. I do not know how he will hit coming back from shoulder surgery, but I think if he is healthy, he can make us a better team!
  6. What is a he Red Sox policy on players playing hurt? Anybody who watched pedroia and Hanley last season had to know they weee hurting the team by attempting to play through the pain. Same with Moreland after he broke his big toe!
  7. Only a truly desperate loser of a GM would do that! Oh wait! My bad! I forgot what our desperate, plan less, loser GM did in a matter of moments our farm system, formerly the best farm system in baseball!! Hey desperate Dave, where is that World Series trophy we just about emptied the farm system for???? What’s thst you say, dave? Wait til next year! Give me a break. Desperate dave needs a one way taxi ride to the airport!
  8. History is nice, but what have you done for me lately, as in this past year?????
  9. Would not they want a starter with more injuries experience?
  10. If only baseball allowed teams to trade draft picks like other sports!!!!
  11. I think we need to figure out why promising pitching prospects fail!! I saw Tampa prospect pitcher Honeywell throw this year and all I could think was here comes another future ace!!!! I saw on another site that someone thought the location of our minor league teams played a role in us failing to develop pitchers. (Not sure I can make that leap.) Others have said our minor league pitching coaches fail to correct flaws in youngsters that cause them to fail later on up the food chain. (Not sure I can make that leap, either) So why do our top pitching prospects fail????
  12. Heyman says giants interested in Stanton. It actually makes sense for them.
  13. It should be interesting to find out later on if Cora negotiated for control of which coaches are hired on his staff.
  14. Any chance billy would part with Davis this offseason? Maybe he could give us a Yankee size discount on a trade!
  15. Reality check here! It is almost 2018. Time to look forward, not back!
  16. If there is one guy who has the mental makeup to come through mf surgery and thrive, it is pedroia. I am not happy that he fractured our locker room this past season, but if we get a good August through October 2018 and relatively healthy season out of the guy, that can only make us a better team!
  17. I agree! Plus we need to put groome, mata and schreff on the untouchable list. I think mata throws a really nice ball and with a little more control and a little sharper secondary stuff, he could be in Portland by the end of next seadon. I saw groome pitch once last season and he has by far and away the best pure stuff I have seen from a sox pitching prospect since Buchholz. Not sure about his mental makeup or what happens with all his family issues, but the stuff is gold. The potential superstar in the group is schreff, admittedly I have not seen him pitch, but the tape looks good. I am very excited to see how he does next year.
  18. I think the cubbies signed butterfield and chilli to their coaching staff. I think the Guardians signed Willis to their coaching staff and victor may be interviewing with the giants. The coaching cupboard may be bare by the time Cora finishes up the World Series.
  19. Washington is desperate for bullpen help. We could send them Kimbrel for turner, feddee and Robles.
  20. Why are people so quick to push Bradley out the door?
  21. No doubt the Yankees will be extremely good next season. But desperate dave can not go into fireman mode this offseason, over react and do something stupid!!! I would advise him to stick to the plan, but we all know he does not have one.
  22. For me, I find it hard to believe we could have the same amount of injuries in 2018 as we had in 2017. For 2018 my crystal ball says: I expect improvement from betts, benintendi, Vazquez, bogey, devers, porcello, Thornburg and Ross. I expect about the same from holt, Bradley, Leon, Hanley, Kelly, sale, Pomeranz, smith, Barnes and Kimbrel. That leaves the wild cards: Price - what is the extent of the tear? Rodriguez - post surgery recovery time needed? Pedroia - can we get more than 20 to 30 healthy games from him? 1st base - who be on first? 5th starter - lots of candidates in house or do we sign someone? 4th outfielder - not a lot of candidates in house, so who do we sign? Lefty reliever - not a lot of in house candidates, so who do we sign? Our season will rest on how many wild cards exceed expectations!
  23. We could bring back lackey in th cheap for a year. Or we could sign gee on the cheap and move him to the bullpen when Rodriguez returns.
  24. Sox will have tons of competition for Martinez.
  25. A guy that intrigues me is Garza. He is not what he once was, but as a stopgap til Rodriguez comes back, he might work. Plus he brings some leadership,
