  1. Benintendi is really swinging the bat nicely. He slid staying back on th ball and making decent contact. Really hoping Betts comes back soon and is 100 percent healthy.
  2. Jeremy eierman of mizzu state is a guy I think projects as a second baseman with some power, I think he projects to be at the major leagues in 3 years and that is just prior to pedroia’s contract expiring,
  3. Grayson Rodriguez had the potential to be a major league starter. At 6’4” plus he meets the Sox height requirement. Fastball sits 92 or so. It’s a heavy ball that is tough to muscle up. He throws a decent slider and I know the Sox don’t usually let their starters throw sliders. Th curveball is a work in progress.
  4. Mata went 5 innings and gave up 2 runs, but walked 4.
  5. Sale just did not have any movement today. Hopefully it is just a one off!
  6. Maybe I’ll win the powerball lottery tonight! Hope is usually not a good strategy! Of course desperate dave wakes up every day and hopes John Henry never learns the definition of fraud!
  7. I think we need to ask ourselves what Pomeranz is giving us when he can not go at least 5 innings and burns up the bullpen. I have more faith in Velasquez than I do Pomeranz.
  8. 2018 is the year of dead payroll (Sandoval, Castillo and now Hanley) Hopefully we are rewarded with a tirle for all this trouble!
  9. Travis, witte, dalbec and rusconi all with taters today. Dalbec with his 9th.
  10. I look at beek’s stuff and I think of words like average and ordinary. Yet, all he does is get hitters out everywhere he goes. I hope this kid gets a chance to show his stuff in Boston, because to date, he has earned it in my book.
  11. It may be a coincidence, but the ringling brothers circus announces their demise shortly after desperate dave is hired to run the Red Sox. And now we have a full fledged circus operating in our baseball operations department!
  12. The best player should play! And that means Moreland should be the starting first baseman. No idea what Cora is doing, but clearly it is not in the best interest of the team to hope and pray a couple of guys end their slumps.
  13. Witte and ockimey with taters tonight.
  14. Ethan Hankins rhp Georgia high school. Tall at 6’5” plus. Incredible life on his fastball. The fastball sits low to mid 90’s but it has a ton of life on it. He can throw it on both sides of the plate. Best fastball I have seen to date in this draft. His fastball makes houck’s look like a middle schooler is throwing it. The other secondary stuff is raw and needs lots of work. Highly unlikely he slips to us, but if he does, Desperate dave needs to be all over this kid!
  15. I can not see mookie signing a ten year deal unless he has outs every other year in it.
  16. That cutter like pitch that price throws kept Tampa guessing all night. Nice win tonight!
  17. Campana with his 7th tater.
  18. Kimbrel was not sharp tonight. Rays got some realky hittable pitches, fortunately for Kimbrel most rays are not major league hitters.
  19. Logan Gilbert, Rhp from Stetson Could work for us as well in this draft. He is 6’5” and throws in th low 90’s. Fastball and change up are plus pitches. Not sure what the breaking ball is, but I guess it could be a slider. He was the Atlantic sun conference player of the year as a sophomore. Then pitched really well in cape cod. Ps: Stetson produced kluber and de grom, so why not try and catch lightening in a bottle for a third time?
  20. When pedroia comes back, one option is to put Nunez on the dl. Thornburg should not be allowed anywhere near the Boston locker room until he can throw at something near major league level. What he throws now is not nearly good enough!
  21. Kimbrel scares me some times.
  22. Mata threw 5 innings today. Gabe up 1 run, but walked 3 batters. I love his ability to attack hitters, and I am hopeful his control improves.
  23. Houck went six innings tonight. Gave up one run and got the win.
  24. Cole Wilcox is a high school right handed pitcher that seems to fit the Sox model. He is tall at 6’4” or so and has a fastball that sits 92-93. The fastball has some downward motion and does not sit in one plane. We do seem to have a scout in the southeast that likes Georgia kids.
  25. Good win today! Looks like Rodriguez is really starting to put it all together.
