I am cautiously optimistic about several very young pitchers in the lower levels of our farm system. Groome - awesome stuff. Can he put it all together? Matta- good stuff. Can he tighten up the secondary pitches? Schreff - really good stuff. Excited to finally see him pitch.

Jd’s bat speed is already showing signs of slowing down. We need more pitching, just pass on bad hitter contracts.

February is shaping up to be a monster month. Strikeback is back on Cinemax. Patriots will win yet another super bowl! Spring training starts! JD signs with someone else!!!

I don’t think I said Nunez was better than JD. But I have read JD would prefer to play the outfield and that means he has to go somewhere else for that. I think Nunez showed enough at the end of last season to convince me, he is a better option as a reserve infielder than anything we have on the roster currently. Plus i’m Guessing pedroia is lucky to play 80 games next season, which means between second, occasional dh, occasional outfield and third, Nunez should get in about 120 games. In addition, Nunez seems to bring an energy and leadership that we were badly lacking last year, especially after pedroia fractured the locker room! Our zombies need leadership and pedroia will never be that type of guy. Neither Vazquez, benintendi, devers, Bogey or mookie appear ready to step up into that role. Hanley is all about Hanley. Bradley and Moreland both appear to be along for the ride. Ps: hosmer could have been that type of guy in the locker room to lead, but that option is not going to happen.

I would prefer Nunez to JD. For the brief time that Nunez was here, I thought he brought a sense of urgency that our zombies were lacking all year. If he is healthy, I would sign him and pass on JD. Please we have a position available for nunez, but not one JD.

If the cbs website is correct and dave offered Martinez five years at 20 million per year, then my respect level for dave just went up considerably, Now dave needs to wait out Martinez. Ps: in the meantime dave, please be working on signing more pitching so when Martinez returns to arizona, you can get us more pitching. Pss: price’s elbow tear is not going to completely heal. By the end of March, it will go pop. Best to add depth now!!!!

Don’t the Sox have insurance for when price’s elbow blows in late March and he misses the 2018 season? While we get no cap relief, at least Henry can get reimbursed a few dollars.

I think the pirates did a good job on this. I really thought there would be more pitching involved.

I would not mind seeing him play for anybody else. The guy has an iron glove in the field and not worth 25 million a year let alone the 30 million he is asking for. Now is our chance to sign pitching!!!!!

Yes, small kid with some effort to his delivery. Super fast fastball with no movement, just straight as an arrow. Weak secondary pitches. I always thought he should have been a closer.

Why would JD want to sign with us? We have three talented outfielders that are all younger than him and better defenders than him. We have a dh that we can not trade. We just signed a first baseman. If I am JD, I want to go to a team that has a spot for me, preferably in the outfield. Let JD sign elsewhere. We need more pitching!!!!!!

Once the scouts see groome throw, they will up his value. No doubt! His stuff is electric. I have not seen a sox minor league pitcher with his kind of stuff. (Disclaimer: I never saw Clemens, hurst, Boyd or Ojea. Before my time.)

This is ancient history and I think we handled it properly. It was the Shaw trade that did not make sense. Why trade a starter with lots of control for a broken down reliever with arm issues. And oh by the way, we only had sandavol as a backup!!!! Dave should have been flushed for screwing that up.

We just have to be ubber patient and let this unfold. Dave is waiting out Boras and I respect that, we should have Martinez signed in about six weeks.

I’ve seen a ton of minor leaguers throw over the years and this kid has “wow” stuff. Especially the curveball which is kershaw like. Yes his control needs work. Yes he is immature. Yes his father is a distraction. But the bottom line is this kid has special talent but also a lot to overcome. If he does, we have an ace. If not, then we have another Paxton Crawford.

I know a ton of pro athletes that have tremendous foundations set up and they do so many wonderful things through those foundations. Agents on the other hand just cash checks and screw kids into leaving my school early regardless of what is in the best interest of the athlete!!!!!

Bowden says Sox offered groome and a player off the roster for Manny. If that player is bogey, then I think Baltimore should have jumped on that trade. If that player is a pitcher, then I see why Baltimore passed. My question is.... has dave decided the bradley’s and bogey’s of our team have plateaued and is he trying to upgrade them with JD and manny?

I expect that is is what we are seeing in basketball now. Add in cable on the verge of collapse once “ala cart” becomes reality, half the league could dissolve! Football appears next in line for a correction that will bring a world of hurt to players and owners alike. It could get ugly out there!

Darvish had a tell that Houston picked up on. Hard to have any success when you are tipping pitches like that!

I expect there to be at least four teams in on JD. And I remain positive Boras is using us as bait.

I saw an article on this on nbc sports Boston. Seems Manny wants to play short next year. Dave would be foolish to do this deal without getting an extension first. Some reporters have speculated bogey, Rodriguez, groome and chavis would get the deal done.
