    I’ve seen Thornburg pitch to minor leaguers and it was not pretty. I can not imagine the results improving against major leaguers.

    Even if the Yankees gave up Torres, Sheffield, Andujar and another prospect or two, they still win the trade and the World Series because de grom is the missing rotation piece for them.

    If the yankees are successful in trading for de Grom, then I think it is game set and match for them for this year.

    If he gets right and adds some mph to his fastball, he could be a huge addition to the pen. But again he has to be right in order for that to work and he has not been right since the injury in spring training.

    Speculation on the radio is that Hanley is rehabbing yet another injury and that is why he has not signed with anyone to date.

    I watched him throw and was really disappointed. His pitches had no movement and got a lot of the white part of the plate. But on the bright side, it looks like yesterday, he just did not have it. For whatever reason. A couple of adjustments and better location and maybe he can contribute this year.

    We need a late innings by reliable reliever. Thornburg is a shell of his former self. Smith is out after surgery. Hand from San Diego would work.

    Dalbec with his 14th tater tonight! Mata went 5.2 innings and gave up 3 hits, 1 earned run, and struck out 7. but he walked 4 more.

    The experts on the radio had us sending devers, Rodriguez, Velazquez, beeks and mata to Baltimore for manny. Desperate dave does not build for tomorrow. He will burn us to the ground for a chance to win today!

    Hoping price keeps his groove going. We need to get on Hernandez early and keep him from establishing his secondary stuff.

    Shawaryn had a very game game tonight. He went 6 innings, gave up 5 hits, struck out 7, no earned runs or walks.

    Hanley could really strive in Baltimore. Chris Davis is not getting it done for them and hanley’s Swing should play well there.

    I do not think it is fair to assume devers is a finished product after he was rushed to the major leagues. (Thanks desperate Dave!) This year and next year, he is going to be developing into a more finished product. I love the fact that he is working through his issues on offense and defense and I look for better results once he makes the adjustments needed.

    I am extremely impressed with price’s ability to reinvent himself. He has just about mastered the cutter or splitter that he throws and it is becoming his new “out” pitch.

    I don’t think there is any reason that pedroia should not be able to come back and be effective, once the knee is completely healthy. If he has not damaged anything by coming back too soon, he should be fine!

    I think it is completely unrealistic to think this team can have depth when desperate Dave has drained the farm system in order to load up on front line starters and anchored us with tons of dead money. We may have more dead money on the books than the entire rays payroll!

    Mata went 5.1 tonight gave up one earned run, walked 6 (ouch) and struck out 8.
